Last night, at 12:28am EST, I received a call on my cellphone from what showed up as my own cellphone number. I did not answer it.

This morning, one of my sisters reported that she also received a call on her cellphone from her own cellphone number last night at 12:37am. She answered it and said that they claimed they were calling from AT&T about a security breach and that they asked for the last four digits of her Social Security number. She said she just hung up on them. She reported it to AT&T today, and they concurred that it was a scammer.

Another sister (i.e. the one I currently live with) claimed that she, too, received a call on her cellphone last night at around 1:43am from her own number.

I tried to report it to the Do Not Call list website just now, and it would not let me complete the complaint, given that the number that made the call was spoofed from the same number that received the call.

Fuck these scammer assholes. It makes me wish once again that I had the unique ability to murder people and blow up computer equipment via phone signals (even if they were spoofing my own phone number this time, my magical power would be able to determine the true source).

If only the government would go after the scammer problem with as much zeal as they went about giving themselves massive permanent tax cuts. It'd have been a thing of the past long ago.
