Tracfone and whatever godawful service it's using can suck a fat chode, too.

Copy/pasted from a rant + comments I made on Facebook:

I thought the whole point of having the IRS snail-mail you a code for activating an account on their website was so that you didn't have to use your cell phone (mine has been having incredibly shitty service lately, and is "no service" more often than not, which is why I had them snail-mail me a code in the first place).

So... what does the website do after you enter the code that they sent you in the mail? It asks for your fucking cellphone number so that it can send a code to that, anyway. And there doesn't appear to be any way to skip this step, either.

God damn it. -_-

---

"You have exceeded the allowable number of login attempts. You may try to access the online service again after 24 hours, or re-register."

God shitfucking dammit.
🤬👿☠️

---

Oh, and this also wasted like 2 minutes on my Tracfone when the fucking cellphone service finally deigned to be up long enough to send through a half a dozen text messages, all of which the website called invalid.

---

Well, actually, I didn't get to try the very last one it sent, a few minutes after the website locked me out. I deleted that one without even opening it, which saved me another 0.30 minutes, at least.

(EDIT: The next day)

---

So I tried again today, got past the cellphone step and... it went to a "Loading..." screen, then locked up the browser. The browser process in Task Manager showed that it was using like 3GB of memory, and the CPUs were all maxed out while it was loading. This was in Firefox.

I'm trying again in Chrome (which required wasting another 0.30 minutes on Tracfone for the stupid cellphone code), and right now, after about 5 more minutes, it still says "Loading..." and one of the Chrome processes is at about 4GB of memory usage and still rising. At least Chrome hasn't locked up entirely (yet).

---

Oh, right after I posted that, it went to a default Chrome "Aw, Snap! Something went wrong while displaying this webpage" error page.

*weary sigh*

---

Huh, but then when I clicked back, it seems to have loaded properly? Maybe? Well, I'll be back to rant some more if it fails again. We'll see, I guess.

---

Okay... it *finally* worked. I've never had to jump through as many hoops for a website as I did with that one. Then again, it *is* the IRS after all, so... *shrug*?
