Ok, I don't get it. Is this a religious thing, or a racist thing? Or maybe a bit of both? Either way, it kind of depresses and sickens me.

Horray for under-educated and ill-lead Christians!

This is a classic example of Christianity becoming the bad-guy, because the title of "Christian" is applied to someone who is clearly not. Christians should try fervently to share the truth of the Gospel, instead of disregarding the opportunity and defending their "comfort zones" with phrases like "I don't want no jihad in my backyard." Furthermore, if they're concerned that they would "try to convert young black men," then they've got issues to begin with.

Although I agree with the core of what you said, I personally try my best not to judge who is or isn't a Christian. Making that call is not what we're meant to do, but even more so, all it does is offend them. I do agree that these people are being quite ignorant and that they should abandon this persecution.

In a parable, Jesus used an example of a Samaritan who helps a Judean mugging victim, contrasting him with a rabbi and a fellow Judean who do not help him. He said that the Samaritan was looked on more favorably by God than the others because of what he did, even though the Samaritans were looked on by Judean Jews as savage, ungodly barbarians.

Jesus also said that, chief among all the laws, is the mandate that "You shall love your neigbor as yourself," saying that upon this mandate "hung all the laws of the Prophets."

This is clearly an example of Christians who are not living up to the Messiah's teachings. It's also an example of xenophobia run amuck.

Agreed. It isn't my place to judge.
