Welp, guess I won't be playing it after all.
Fucking text balloons disappear far too quickly. There'd be an audible cue that someone was saying something (e.g. Roland saying "Hey" or some such), but by the time I glanced down at the bottom of the screen to read it, the text balloon would vanish after a second or so, which is not even remotely enough time. Given that character interactions and story are pretty much the most important thing about a game like this, not being able to follow that due to dialogues going away before you can read them is a huge problem. There doesn't appear to be a setting to change to fix this, either. (The text is also too small, which is bad enough, but I could at least still read it, potentially, if it just wouldn't blink away so quickly.)
I made it as far as escaping the castle, wandering the countryside a bit, and heading into the first major area, Cloudcoil Canyon or whatever. And at that point I just got fed up with the issue and exited out.
I checked online and there are myriad complaints about this all over the Internet dating back to 2018, when the game was first released. So, if they haven't fixed that shit by now, over three years later, they're apparently not going to do so. As such, I don't think I'll be playing it, which is greatly disappointing, because what little I did play it, it seemed like it would be pretty awesome, otherwise.
