"A Mario animated movie is coming to theaters Holiday 2022 starring Chris Pratt as Mario"
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) September 24, 2021
...and I'm already out. Bye.
Charles Martinet, apparently, is involved in the movie in other ways, which is great and all, but why not just, you know, have him be, you know, Mario, the character he has, you know, voiced for the past almost two decades already?

(EDIT)
*almost three decades
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) September 24, 2021
Super Mario 64 came out in 1996, though Charles Martinet has actually been voicing Mario since 1992 (Mario pinball, his first role as Mario). https://t.co/ht5X1QrQet
(/EDIT)
My second choice, before having Chris Pratt as Mario, would be Captain Lou Albano. Yes, I say that even though Lou Albano has been dead for over a decade. I'd *still* pick him over Chris Pratt. (Or over anyone else, for that matter, aside from Martinet.)

Unless this was a case of Charles Martinet explicitly saying "No, I don't want to be Mario in the movie. Let someone else do it," in which case... meh, okay, Chris Pratt, whatever, I don't care. Outside of that, however, fuck everything about this.

So, yes indeed, fuck everything about this. https://t.co/54MlTZ0HQt

Article from back in February 2021 that I linked to in the previous tweet: "Charles Martinet Would Love To Voice Mario In Upcoming Illumination Movie" in which Charles Martinet is quoted as saying, "Well it sounds like a marvellous thing, it sounds like great fun and if they invite me to play, I'll go in and play with great joy and happiness. It should be a lot of fun, you know, everything illumination touches looks like it's fun and Nintendo, too."
Holy shit. https://t.co/Wfqmf2gctQ

Text of the tweet, from May 21, 2020, that was included in my previous tweet there, but which I apparently can't directly embed here: "I'm calling it now, the Mario Bros movie will NOT have Charles Martinet play Mario for no reason and cast someone like Chris Pratt"
I'm not even sure why this annoys me so much. I probably wouldn't have watched the movie anyway, regardless. I just don't watch movies all that much anymore in general. *shrug* But in this case, explicitly because of this, "probably wouldn't have" became "almost assuredly won't."

I'm literally more upset about this than I was even about the abysmal Star Trek Beyond trailer. https://t.co/EbsdLOUMLt
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) September 24, 2021
Admittedly, I did still see Beyond, eventually (and it was only *mostly* as awful as the trailer made it out to be https://t.co/3JpdygwdRa), but still...
Pretty much the only movie I'm even remotely interested in seeing at this point is Ghostbusters Afterlife. https://t.co/fKh6qLnrak

Reminder: Charles Martinet was the English voice of the Homunculus in the 2001 PS2 game Shadow of Destiny/Memories. https://t.co/4JGQJmMLpu
— Kane Magus (@KaneMagus) September 24, 2021
(Also, the Homunculus was pretty much the *only* character I can recall in Shadow of Destiny whose voice *wasn't* pure ass.)
(EDIT)
Reminder: Charles Martinet was the voice of Paarthurnax in Skyrim, too. https://t.co/rgYOMlCcVP

Seriously, Chris Pratt will be voicing Mario in the upcoming animated Mario movie and not Charles Martinet. I'm sorry, but that is asinine. And that's about all I have left to say about that. It's asinine.
