Well, I haven't touched Minecraft since long before Mojank was bought by Micro$hit, and this obviously doesn't make me feel an urge to do so anytime soon, either.

I doubt everyone migrating has that experience, but it's partly for that kind of reason why I'm not bothering.

With me I 100% expect issues like that happening to me. I don't even have a mojang account for instance. I got minecraft back when it was still minecraft accounts, and I never bothered to upgrade -that- to a mojang account. So I fully expect problems when Microsoft tries to convert me from a non-existent mojang account.

Minecraft use to be so pleasant to play. But I guess this is the kinda stuff we have to deal with to make sure Notch got his billions.

Yeah technically the pseudo server is still available although currently down. goldp moved recently and hasn't put it back up yet. Mainly because there isn't a pressing need. Main players left would be me, him, Koby, and Scarthumbs (a relative of mine). And of all those, I'm the main person that logs in the most. However. Since 1.17, I can't run minecraft. Apparently they upped the requirements for java and my computer doesn't support it. As a result if I try to launch 1.17 it'll crash. As such I'm mostly screwing around with 1.16 in single player. A new single player since more changes to the launcher causes minecraft to separate modded clients (like optifine) from others. And it's a pain in the ass trying to get the optifine 1.16 recognize my older worlds.

So I'm kinda stuck without online minecraft until I get a newer comp.

As for Bedrock Minecraft, yeah, they're trying to trick people into embrace the Bedrock/Windows 10 version, and pretty much any other version than java. But Java is still supported and being updated.

They know if they outright kill the original java version then their 2 billion dollar investment will go up in smoke. So instead they'll keep trying to encourage people to switch to other versions that don't have the forever-updates promise and are not anywhere near as mod-friendly. (The modded nature of the java version is probably the primary reason Java Minecraft isn't bloated to hell and back with DLC (ie: New block types!) and Micro-transactions (ie: get a stack of diamonds!).
