Dont ever migrate your mojang account to microsoft. i am now in a nightmare situation where jack can’t play minecraft using our copy and it won’t let me buy one for his new computer.

Well, I haven't touched Minecraft since long before Mojank was bought by Micro$hit, and this obviously doesn't make me feel an urge to do so anytime soon, either.

I got minecraft back when it was still minecraft accounts, and I never bothered to upgrade -that- to a mojang account. So I fully expect problems when Microsoft tries to convert me from a non-existent mojang account.
Minecraft use to be so pleasant to play. But I guess this is the kinda stuff we have to deal with to make sure Notch got his billions.

Date: 2021-12-28 03:02 am (UTC)From:I think the last time I played it, they had only just introduced enchanting and the tamable wild cats, so whatever year that was, that was when I last played it myself. Or, at least, that's what I recall of the last time I played it with you guys, anyway. That doesn't count the time I watched my nieces and nephews playing the Xbox 360 version at my sister's house a few years ago. They were playing it in four-player split-screen on a pre-made "deathmatch" type of "level" or whatever the fuck, something they picked from a menu when they started, like it was a goddamn Goldeneye or Doom map or something, i.e. doing nothing but running around trying to find pre-placed weapons in crates and killing each other, as if that was apparently the whole point of Minecraft. When I mentioned that when I played it, I did it to explore and build stuff and the like, they all looked at me like I had a third arm growing out of my forehead. It was legitimately somewhat depressing.

As for Bedrock Minecraft, yeah, they're trying to trick people into embrace the Bedrock/Windows 10 version, and pretty much any other version than java. But Java is still supported and being updated.
They know if they outright kill the original java version then their 2 billion dollar investment will go up in smoke. So instead they'll keep trying to encourage people to switch to other versions that don't have the forever-updates promise and are not anywhere near as mod-friendly. (The modded nature of the java version is probably the primary reason Java Minecraft isn't bloated to hell and back with DLC (ie: New block types!) and Micro-transactions (ie: get a stack of diamonds!).
