Guess that explains why I never saw it for sale anywhere. I keep hearing people talk about it. I might have seen at least one youtuber play it. Overall still not interested, and given I have as few shits to give about Epic's game store as you do, I doubt I ever will.
That does bring in another aspect of Epic paying for all these exclusives (Assuming they did that here as well since it's their Thing) and the mentality of some of these devs. I can understand, somewhat, a tiny dev being lured by a big upfront payout for going exclusive given they haven't got a clue if their game will sell at all. But when a large group releases a game that seems like it's going to do exceptionally well... can't help but think they're axing their own potential here as no matter how well it sold on Epic, it would have sold even better if it wasn't exclusive.
Yeah, similar to the above, why in the unholy fuck did Final Fantasy VII Remake, as another example, "need" to be exclusive to Epic Shit Store? It's not like Square Enix is all that hard up for money.
For all the indie devs that "need" to accept all that Epic bribery to keep their game off other storefronts, though, it still makes me think of this Nerf Now strip whenever I hear about such things. (And that is, indeed, yet another reason why I will never buy an Epic Games Store "exclusive" on Epic Games Store, even if I were to ignore all the myriad other reasons to never buy [or even just download for free] anything at all ever on Epic Games Store.) (EDIT) And, more generally, it reminds me of this Penny Arcade strip, too. (EDIT)
That said, big or little, the devs have already gotten theirs, via the dump trucks full of money Epic is driving up to their doors to keep the games off Steam and GOG and elsewhere, so why should those devs even care how well or not the game sells? Even if if the game ends up going over like a fart in church, they still made mad bank.
