I mean, yeah, but I'm not sure I'd call it "imposter." To me, based on my own observations of far too many so-called Christians during my 43 years of life, this is just Christianity. Period. Full stop. End of line.
Just the fact that so many Christians ludicrously see fucking Donald Jackass Trump, of all people, as a "godly man" demonstrates just how far off the deep end they are, given that Donald Jizzstain Trump is one of the most ungodly human beings who has ever lived.[1] But then, when you stop and realize that far too many of these people are racist, White supremacist, sexist, xenophobic, bigoted pieces of shit, it then makes perfect sense that they would choose Trump, a manbaby who is essentially the Platonic ideal of racism, of White supremacy, of sexism/misogyny, of xenophobia, of bigotry, and of a massive piece of feces, as Their Guy™. To call him "godly" just makes it "official."
But, again, this "imposter Christianity" (or just "Christianity," if you prefer) bullshit has been around for a lot longer than Trump has been God Emperor, and it will be around long after Trump has snuffed it and started stinking up hell.
And look. Yes, I get what CNN is doing here, and I appreciate the fact that they're trying to shine a spotlight on a very ugly, shitty, dumbfuck, hateful situation. I'm just not sure that this whole phenomenon is the aberration that CNN is trying to make it out to be, rather than simply something that is part and parcel with far too many people who live in this country and call themselves Americans, let alone Christians.
[1] - Granted, that's only if you assume that "God" follows the views of the supposedly "non-imposter" Christians (or "true" Christians, if you prefer) of being perfect and benevolent and Jesus-like[2] and all that shit, which I'm not sure is at all accurate. Based on the God depicted/discussed in those posts there[3], however, maybe Trump is the most "godly" human to have ever lived. And, again, maybe this "imposter" strain of Christianity isn't such an imposter after all. *shrug*
