Or apparently will be in "1 day and 11 hours" as of the time of this post, anyway.
WTF.
I'm not going to add it to my wishlist or follow it or whatever, but I probably will at least check the page again later, assuming I bother to remember, once it's actually "released," if only to see how much they're charging for it. This Steam version will, supposedly, allow "unlimited access to Griffin" (aka the weakest, shittiest version [and that's even taking into account that they switched away from GPT-3, such that even the "stronger" versions are still apparently weak and shitty, compared to how it used to be]) with "no energy restrictions."
In any case, it'll probably be review bombed to hell, once reviews are possible. The Steam forums certainly aren't being too receptive or kind about it, and I don't really blame them. (And, apparently, the web and mobile versions have full screen popup ads now on top of everything else. If that's in this Steam version as well, they really will get review bombed to hell, especially if they're going to charge money for it. We'll see, I guess. *shrug*)
Also, "Cross Platform Multiplayer." LOLwut.

Date: 2022-07-27 06:01 pm (UTC)From:Honestly, if I could find a service that was at least as good as (or, preferably, better than) what AI Dungeon used to be, before Latitude completely shit the bed with bubbly diarrhea, I'd be perfectly willing to pay cash money for that, even as a monthly subscription type thing. However, AI Dungeon certainly ain't it, not anymore. And with AI Dungeon, even if they had a god-tier AI at this point, which they don't, I still wouldn't trust the humans running the thing, what with all the spying issues and filtering/censoring issues and "explicitly training the AI on child porn stories then blaming the users" issues and, now, apparently, obnoxious fullscreen popup ad issues.
I don't even pay for NovelAI anymore. I tried it again for a couple months at the mid-level $15/month tier, a few months ago, and while it's pretty decent, quality-wise, it's still not really up to the level of the old AID Dragon model. Though, to be fair, I never really got heavily into all the arcane, esoteric customization options, which supposedly, if you can figure them out, improve the experience greatly. At least they have a free trial now, extremely limited though it may be, which they used to not have.
HoloAI looks vaguely promising and is apparently more newbie-friendly than NovelAI is, but they also only have a very limited free tier trial, which seemed okay-ish for what tiny bit I was allowed to mess with it, but not good enough that I'm willing to pay for it at the moment.
