Oh my fucking god, as if I didn't already have enough of a phobia (or, perhaps, "misia" would be the more accurate term here) about the modern video game industry. If this, i.e. infecting a game with the Denuvo malware after the game has already been out for a while, starts becoming more of a Thing™, then I may as well seriously just stop buying modern video games at all, entirely. And I say that in an abstract way, because it's already not like I've been splurging on that shit lately, as it is. You may think I'm pissed off about this shit now, but just wait until the day I find out that some game I previously bought (which, in large part, I would have bought because it didn't have Denuvo shoehorned into it) suddenly gets updated to add Denuvo into it, after the fact. The force of a thousand suns and all that.

To fucking hell with Denuvo, and to fucking hell with any and all developers and publishers who think that contaminating their games with that dogshit is somehow a good idea.

In this particular case, at least, I'm safe, because I had little interest in Ghostwire: Tokyo even before this point, and I certainly have less than zero interest in it after.

I can't say I've been buying any of their games in the longest while if at all honestly, however after this I just went ahead and officially ignored the entire publisher on steam.

This kind of ignore -never- goes away, and can expand if I see them adding new company names to publish under.

Given the publisher was Bethesda, the last game of theirs I got was Skyrim and the only games I'm even remotely interested in for the future are Starfield and whatever the next (singleplayer) Elder Scrolls game is. But if those end up having Denuvo at launch, then those are right the fuck out. And I'll almost assuredly be waiting at least five years or so after their releases before I get either of them, anyway, same as I did with Fallout 4, in order to give them plenty of time to get all of the inevitable overpriced DLC fuckery out of their system and the full games worked down to actually reasonable prices, which would also give me plenty of time to see if they're going to infect their shit with Denuvo after a year or whatever. That, of course, would be an immediate dealbreaker.

But then, with Bethesda having been purchased by Microsoft a couple years ago, this stinks more of M$'s executive meddling than it being Bethesda's (or Tango Gameworks, whoever they are) decision to infest the game with this shitty malware. Of course, once one sells out to a soulless company like Microsoft, one pretty much loses whatever right one may have had to complain about the dumbshit foisted upon one's games by said soulless company, so there's not much difference between it being Microsoft's doing or Bethesda's doing at this point. *shrug*
