"The Hyrulian economy can live another day"
On the one hand, yeah sure whatever, people can play the game however they want to play it, even if that involves exploiting obvious, broken glitches. It's a singleplayer game, and it doesn't affect anyone else, so if they want to do that shit, then more power to them for all I care.
On the other hand, Nintendo fixed their broken game, and now people are "panicking" and whining and coming up with ridiculous "workarounds" because Nintendo fixed their broken game. The fact that Nintendo is releasing broken games like this at all just goes to show how far they've fallen... i.e. down to the level of the rest of the modern video game industry.

Date: 2023-05-29 01:44 am (UTC)From:I'm likely going to get this particular game eventually all the same - I don't care for trying to exploit dup tricks regardless so it wouldn't affect me one way or another - but it's one of those things that make me pass on a lot of nintendo's games these days. As while they surely release buggy games now, they've also taken to doing expensive Expansion Packs and general DLC BS as well. Again, while expecting top dollar for their now sliced up product.

Date: 2023-05-29 02:07 am (UTC)From:And on top of all all the other stuff you mentioned, they're still doing everything they can to try to kill """piracy""" on their shit, too. Just Nintendo being Nintendo. And... that's another reason why I'm hesitant to get a Switch (or any other modern console or handheld, for that matter). Who's to say how soon they'll "end support" for a console, which basically disables most of its features and renders it all but worthless afterward, especially if they're going to try to surreptitiously ram through shit like that patch long after the fact, just to try to stymie people who found workarounds for their otherwise non-functional bullshit. You never saw shit like that in the old days, before consoles "required" online for everything. To this day, you can still whip out a SNES or Genesis or PS2 and play whatever you want whenever you want. Not so much with modern consoles, though. Yet another reason why the "glorious digital/online future" is actually dystopian in nature.
