I actually tried to read the Holy Bible once, circa 2004-2006 or so. I remember it being while I was in WA, and early during my time at DigiPen, anyway. I'm not sure exactly how far into it I made it before I bailed, but I do remember reading a whole lot of "begats" and, after that, not much else, so probably around there. For what it's worth, it was a KJV. I haven't tried with something less superannuated.
Of the other books mentioned in this comic, the only one I've read start to finish is A Brief History of Time. I've never so much as even touched the other two, though.
