That's pretty much the only saving grace we have when it comes to Trump, in that he's just so asininely incompetent that it's easy for pretty much anyone to see what he's doing.
Granted, that doesn't help any if too many people simply ignore it all and let him get away with it, though. Or, worse, applaud it and defend it. Or, worst, actively assist with it. If Trump didn't have so many people surrounding him and propping him up, he would have been in prison decades ago. (Especially now, with the dementia and all.)
Trump has (allegedly) had ties to the Mafia for a very long time, even before he ran for President. This is the same thing, except on a global scale. To be "fair" to Trump, he's not the only President who's been accused of having Mafia connections (some more believable than others).

I find this implausible on the grounds that nobody likes a rat and he draws too much attention even for the thugs to like. If he was Connected, chances are someone would have finalized him a long time ago.
