Winter and the early nights

One of the things about winter that I don't like, especially being as far north as I am now: it gets dark so freaking early. Back during the summer months, it could be 8, 9, or even edging up on 10pm, and it would still be light outside, which was itself somewhat unusual compared to what I was used to before I moved here, but was actually kind of cool. Now, it's doing good to get past maybe 4 or 5pm without being completely night-time dark, especially if it's cloudy.

(EDIT) And yes I know that winter doesn't officially begin for more than a month. It's close enough for gub'ment work. (/EDIT)
