*weary sigh*
Well, the
big headache with this whole Xbox 360 wireless networking adapter issue continues.
I received the replacement from NewEgg today and it also does not work, same as the first one.
So, I finally decided to actually call Xbox Customer Support, as the email support was less than satisfactory. Just got off the phone with them.
After the whole rigmarole of telling them that I've already tried plugging it in all of the USB ports and that I've already tried powering down the console and unplugging/plugging it in and so on and so forth, they finally told me that they (Microsoft) would send me a replacement adapter "that works". We'll see....
Now, I just have to ship this one off to Texas and wait god knows how long until they send a new one, which I'll try to do tomorrow morning as it's too freaking hot to be out and about right now. Hopefully, it will, indeed, actually work this time.
As I said before, from checking several threads on the Xbox.com forums, this issue with the wireless adapters not working seems to be a fairly recent, and apparently increasingly widespread, phenomenon. Theories that I've seen include a bad batch of adapters in the wild, as well as a potential conflict with one of the console updates or some such (and I did have my console connected to the Internet before through an ethernet cable, so I probably have whatever updates are available, and so that could be it as well). Whatever the reason, it's very frustrating and annoying.
( EDIT: I got one last email from Xbox Customer Support )
