When I went to bed last night, I had that sort of general malaise that is a precursor to being sick. Was hoping it was just all in my head as it occasionally is, but sadly that wasn't the case this time. Woke up around 4am with the coughing and the stuffy nose making it hard to breathe and thus sleep. By now I feel like I have the full works. As such, the only reason I'm up now is because my alarms woke me up, so I got up and sent off an email to work letting them know I wouldn't be there. Combined with yesterday, that makes this an impromptu four-day weekend. Too bad I can't actually enjoy that. Heading back to bed now. :/

"Fox Uses Case Of Canadian Baby To Raise Specter Of Death Panels"

"Fox & Friends Pushes Health Care Misinformation Using Case Of Canadian Baby"

"Siegel Continues Fox's Misinforming On Canadian Baby Case To Fearmonger About Health Care In U.S."

This is an absolutely tragic situation that is being callously exploited for political gain by opponents of health care reform in the USA, and that utterly disgusts me.

What's worse, however, is that this mdisinformation campaign seems to be working. I'm seeing some people on my FB f-list* echoing some of the above fear-mongering sentiments regarding that poor little baby. You just don't know how depressing and infuriating this is to me.

* - I will not name names here, and am not posting this directly to their FB thread because I am not at all interested in getting into another pointless, angry "debate" with them, but if they happen to see this they'll know exactly who they are. And I hope they take something of value from this, but it will more than likely just piss them off. If it's just the latter case, then too bad.

(EDIT)

It should be noted that the perfect, wonderful American system has also refused to take in Baby Joseph as well (at least, the Children's Hospital of Michigan did anyway). So this isn't just a story about the evil, socialist Canadian death panels anymore. I'm sure a way will be found to somehow blame this on "Obamacare" though, no doubt.
