Yeah, yeah, I know, "Meh, it's just The Pirate Bay, so who cares" right? Uh huh, just keep telling yourself that when these jackholes get enough clout with these smaller victories to start trying to go after something like Youtube or Facebook in earnest.

No, I don't think this is the death knell for Kickstarter, like some seem to be saying. If anything, it kind of proves that the system works, at least in this case. This scam was sniffed out by people who were paying attention and it was shut down rather quickly.

What will be the real test will be when someone gets funding for an intentionally crappy project that will fulfill the lofty promises made in only the cheapest, most superficial manner, or when someone gets a successfully funded project and then just altogether takes the money and runs, or something similar to that. Though I would assume, or at least hope, that Kickstarter itself has means to fight back against something like that. For that matter, I hope they have a means to fight back against the above asshat as well.
