This is a new Thing™ that I'm thinking about doing here, just for the heck of it. Been pondering doing something like it for a while now. Right now, no real format or anything yet, just me futzing around. Not sure how often I'll do this, assuming I keep it up at all. No more than once a week at the most.
The gist: I'm going to post some game music, all of which will be from games that I have played at some point in the past. Right now, my chosen categories are Something From A Game I Am Currently Playing, Something Epic, and Something Old School. I almost included a fourth category called Something Quirky, but decided I'd keep it simpler for the first time. If I keep this going, I might change or add categories as time goes on, but right now there's no real rhyme or reason to it. Anyway, for now... let's get this going.
First of all, something from a game I am currently playing. That would be Divine Divinity (music by Kirill Pokrovsky), a sort of mash-up between Diablo, Baldur's Gate and Ultima VII. I like it. (I might even actually finish it this time!)
This is one of the wilderness themes, called "Roads Shaded by Green Eaves", which plays when you are just out wandering around, away from civilization.
Something epic. I know, I know, what I find to be "epic" may be "crap" to others, but this is my blog, so nyah. Also, my definition of "epic" is a very loose definition. The following is from American McGee's Alice (music by Chris Vrenna).
This is "Wonderland Woods", my favorite piece from the awesome soundtrack of this game.
Something old school. Let me pause a moment and say what I mean by this. I am limiting this to SNES-era or earlier, or early PC when midi was the norm. These might also be considered to be "epic" as well, just an older generation of epic.
This is from Illusion of Gaia (music by Yasuhiro Kawasaki), the second game in the Soul Blazer series, the first being, of course, Soul Blazer and the third being Terranigma.
This is the end credit music. I avoided picking a video that played the actual credits, because that would have been rather spoilery, since it also has little mini-scenes going in the background during the credits.
Well, that's it for now. Let me know if you want me to keep this up (I mean, I probably will anyway, whether you want me to or not, but feedback is always nice). Also, it's very possible that these youtube videos might go down at some point. If I don't catch them myself, let me know and I'll try to replace them (even if I have to break down and upload it myself).
