Hmm, took me a bit longer than I thought to get back to doing this.

Anyway, this time is going to be a tiny bit different. Not too long ago, I had reason to reflect on the pieces of music (all of them from video games, naturally) that I've considered to be my "personal theme songs" over the years. As of now, there are three (well, five, but three of those five are variants of the same theme) of them in total. So, without further ado, let's get down to business.

Personal Theme Song #1 - Battle With Magus/Magus Confronted (Yasunori Mitsuda, Chrono Trigger)

Magus was the first character in a video game that I really connected with. Don't get me wrong, I'm nothing like him, but he's the first character that I encountered where I was like "Whoa... awesome." As such, for the longest time, his theme, which is awesome in its own right, just kind of stuck with me.

Personal Theme Song #2 - Hell March/Hell March 2/Hell March 3 (Frank Klepacki, Red Alert/Red Alert 2/Red Alert 3)

This is another "OMG so badass" piece of music that just kind of stuck with me for a long while after playing the game. Kane is another of those characters who, like Magus, just kind of stuck out to me, and though he didn't play a very big role in any of the Red Alert games (aside from the first one), he pretty much is Command and Conquer for me, and I still associate this theme with him. For those in the OtakuWars!, this was, of course, the track that I picked as my theme on the first OW! soundtrack. (Also, for that matter, take note of what I named my OW! character, which is the same as the alias I use everywhere else on the Internet. Notice anything interesting about it, given the first two entries in this post? Yeah.)

This is HM2, the second (technically third, but I'm not including the Sole Survivor remix here) variation on the Hell March theme. This was KM's theme on the second OW! soundtrack.

And this is Hell March 3, from the third game. There's less of a change between the 2nd one and this one as there was between the 1st and 2nd one. Still, if there'd been a third OW! soundtrack, this would have been KM's theme on it.

There's also another remix of the original Hell March to be found on the RA3 soundtrack, but I kind of don't like that one as much as the original or the HM2/HM3 variants, though it's still pretty cool.

Personal Theme Song #3 - Was I Even There? (Trip Cyclone/Guy Whitmore, Shivers II: Harvest of Souls)

This one is a bit different. This was a song by the fictional band Trip Cyclone from the PC game Shivers II: Harvest of Souls. This is my theme song for when I'm feeling down and in a funk, though I still also fully enjoy listening to it even when I'm feeling fine and dandy. It's my favorite piece from the Shivers II soundtrack (just barely edging out "Spell It Out"), but it could be considered to be a bit depressing, I suppose. I still consider the soundtrack to Shivers II to be one of my all-time favorites, even though there were only six tracks total on the official soundtrack altogether that was included on the second disc of the game (one of which was a medley of tracks from the original game). There was, of course, a lot more music than just those six tracks in the game itself, but a lot of the music was comprised of short excerpts from and remixes of those tracks.

And that's pretty much it. If/when I do this again, it will probably be more like the initial entry, i.e. current game track/epic track/old school track and whatever other category I may add.
