Stuff with at least one of the following two components and preferably both:
- Lute, lyre, mandolin, acoustic guitar... I don't know the exact sound I'm looking for but something roughly along those lines.
- Whistling. Can be synth or actual human whistling. Preferably no other vocals beyond that, particularly lyrics of any sort. Maybe a flute or something could substitute here, but it's not ideal.
I'm not sure what "genre" or "style" you would call this, so I'll just post some examples.
Best examples:
Shadow's Theme from Final Fantasy VI
Map Theme from Illusion of Gaia
Mini-boss Theme from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Whistle of the Warrior from Wild Arms
Warrior's Whistle from Wild Arms: Alter Code F (alternate version of the above)
Into the Wilderness from Wild Arms
Acceptable, but not ideal, examples (lack of whistling):
Castle in the Mist from Ico
Tristram Theme from Diablo II
Silent Hill Theme from Silent Hill
Yeah, more stuff like that, basically. As with Epic Vocal, video game music is preferred, but it's not a requirement.
