I agree completely. That a completely retarded DRM scheme is being replaced with one that is only slightly less retarded but still very much retarded isn't really a reason to break out the party hats.
Bottom line: Single player games should not require an Internet connection just to launch and play the game. At all. Ever. For any reason. Period.
