Yeah, I've been playing a whole lot of the X series lately. As of this post, I've completed the (one and only, so far) storyline plot missions in X3 Albion Prelude and have returned to Terran Conflict in order to wrap up some of the plots I'd left incomplete when I moved on to AP.
The music is not an insignificant part of why I like these games so much.
So, let's get to it.
This is the main theme from the first game, X: Beyond the Frontier.
The title of this is Ore Belt, apparently, and it probably is indeed also the music in the Ore Belt sector in BtF (I don't recall one way or the other), but I mainly remember this as the music of Seizewell, the homeworld of the Teladi and the sector in which you start the first game. When playing BtF, you will probably hear this a lot since you'll be spending a whole lot of time in Seizewell, at least at first (or you should be, anyway, if you're smart and don't want to die repeatedly).
This is the music (from X3 Reunion onward) for sector Argon Prime, the adopted homeworld of the Argon Federation. Probably my least favorite of the sector-specific themes, but still pretty cool.
This is the music for Home of Light, the sector just to the "south" of Argon Prime and home of Terracorp. Sadly, for some reason, this music was only used in X3 Reunion, since in Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude it was replaced with one of the more generic multi-sector themes again. I think this theme has been moved to one of the Terran sectors in Terran Conflict/Albion Prelude, though.
Here is the music for Kingdom End (again from Reunion onward), the homeworld of the Kingdom of Boron. For the sector-specific themes, this is probably tied with the next one for my favorite.
This is X3's version of Seizewell. This is probably my favorite of the sector-specific themes, either that or the one above.
Getsu Fune is not a sector I visit very often, due to the frequent Xenon ships that pass through the sector, but when I do I usually stop for a while just to listen to the music.
Here is the theme for Earth and the Torus Æternal, which was not able to be reached until X3 Terran Conflict. As the description says, it's pretty fitting for how isolationist the Terrans are, even to fellow Terrans who weren't actually born on Earth itself. I don't visit here very often, if at all.
I saved my own personal favorite for last. This track has been in all of the games, and isn't specific to any one sector as it is used in multiple sectors (including Antigone Memorial, which I usually picked as my unofficial "home" sector, at least in TC and AP anyway). Not sure what it is about this one that I like over the others, but I just do.
There is a ton more awesome music in the games besides those, but it's beyond the scope of this post to just list everything. >_>;
