How interesting. It was apparently released today, I guess? *shrugs and goes back to not giving a crap about Diablo 3*

(EDIT October 10, 2012)

And now, almost 5 months later, it still has a user score of 3.7. So it's actually gone down a tiny bit. Not surprised.

(/EDIT)

(EDIT November 7, 2014)

And now, almost a full two and a half years later (because I just happened across this old post while looking at other stuff), the score has reached the lofty height of 3.9. Still not surprised.

(/EDIT)

(EDIT August 30, 2016)

Holy shit, it has finally managed to break 4.0 now. Shocking. /monotone

(/EDIT)

(EDIT January 28, 2023)

It has managed to gain another .2 score in the six and a half years since the previous edit. Amazing. Give it another half century or so at that rate, and it may even finally make it to a totally middle of the road 5.

Let's try that again without the pointy brackets being considered html tags! :P

Yeah, 15th it was released. I guess at midnight. Reading the comments in the slashdot article about it, in various cases, shows you how a fuckup (online single player can not, in my opinion, be considered anything but.) like Diablo 3 can still sell copies.

Things along the lines of "This is total horseshit how they make you/limit you to do (specific example) it's totally inexcusable... that being said I picked up a collector's copy at launch anyway because (inane asskissing excuse)."

Yeah, most gamers are indeed exactly as retarded as depicted in this Penny Arcade comic, (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2011/8/8/) which I previously talked about here. (http://kane-magus.livejournal.com/506327.html)

(By the way, you can insert brackets into posts like this < > without getting the error by using (ampersand)lt(semicolon) or (ampersand)gt(semicolon), with the (ampersand) and (semicolon) bits replaced with the actual characters of course.)

The most frustrating thing about all of this though, as you said, is that Diablo 3 is probably still going to do very, very well, financially, despite all the horrendous fuckups associated with it. I wish it would crash and burn, honestly, but I'm sure it won't. It just means we'll be seeing more and more online-only singleplayer games in the future that I'll be ignoring or ranting about incessantly.

And to prove that point, everyone I know here bought a copy and took pics of their box and put it on fb. I'm not playing it because I wan't interested in the first place, but it's pretty annoying.
