Yeah, I've been well into the "fuck it, then, I guess I'll just ignore it" phase for at least a decade or two now.

No real comment on this one. The tags below are pretty much the gist of the topics this clip was about.

(Also, this is yet another "the 'diablo iii' and 'asinine anti-singleplayer trend' tags are serving as the de facto 'blizzard sucks' and 'asinine anti-offline trend' tags, respectively" post.)

Full headline because shit sucks: "Former Blizzard boss says 'the only thing bigger' than Sony buying FromSoftware would be if it bought Valve or Nintendo"

As decades of precedent has shown us, it would be utter dogshit for those companies and for fans of games made by those companies if Sony (or any other big company) bought any one of them. As for me, personally, I don't give that much of a shit about FromSoftware or even Nintendo anymore, but Sony/Microsoft/anyone else better keep their fetid fingers away from Valve. And that's not because I'm all that huge a fan of Valve's games (I mean, sure, Half-Life 2 was good two decades ago or whatever), but because I don't want them fucking up Steam (at least not any worse than Valve itself has already fucked it up, anyway).

One thing I care about the least, though, is a "former Blizzard boss" saying pretty much anything at all, at this point.

Meh. Blizzard has been nothing but complete dogshit in my eyes ever since 2011.

But yeah, even before that, I remember being super hyped for Warcraft Adventures back in the day, and then them scrapping that shit for no good reason. And I remember most everyone else being hyped about StarCraft: Ghost, though it wasn't a game I could have cared less about, and then them scrapping that shit for dubiously good reasons, too.

Diablo was good and Diablo II was great. Warcraft was okay and Warcraft II was good and Warcraft III was... back to okay, again. StarCraft (and Brood War) was pretty close to great, too. Probably better than anything Warcraft related, anyway.

Beyond that... meh and guh and blah. I obviously don't give a shit about Diablo III anymore, except to mock it again whenever the subject happens to come up, and I never gave a shit about Diablo IV because of the lack of shit given about Diablo III, and I stopped giving a shit about three-part StarCraft II over a decade ago, and I only ever had the vaguest of vague interests in World of Warcraft for about five minutes back in 2004, though I never actually played it, and I never once gave even the slightest shit about anything related to Overwatch at all, in the first place. If Blizzard has even done anything else aside from those (e.g. Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, whatever), it has been so far off my radar that I had to look up a list of Blizzard games in Google just then to make sure I was even remembering those last two names correctly.

And absolutely nothing whatsoever of value was lost. If anything, in fact, I would say that value has been gained via Kotick finally being flushed away. Marginally speaking, of course. It's still Activision BlizzardMicro$oft, after all.

Can't wait to see what immensely dumbshit company snaps him up in the future, though, wrongly thinking that's a great idea (e.g. Unity idiotically bringing in EA's Riccitiello).
kane_magus: (Default)

I haven't seen "the merger trailer" because I possess less than zero interest in seeing it, but I do appreciate Pat and Woolie taking several minutes to shit all over it, the companies involved in it, and the increasingly shitty games said companies have defecated out over the past few yearsdecades.

(Reminder, the "diablo iii" tag is my de facto "activision blizzard sucks" tag, because I just don't care anymore, except to explain it in almost every post in which I use it that way. I guess from now on, though, it will all just fall more broadly under the "microsoft sucks" tag.)
kane_magus: (Default)
Sure, whatever. Diablo IV sucks, no doubt.

However, without even bothering to read the article past the first couple paragraphs, because I truly don't give a shit about either Diablo IV or Diablo III (except to mock them), I'll just say that the fact that Diablo III even has a "season 29," or whatever the fuck, demonstrates everything Diablo III gets wrong, too. Diablo III also sucks.

Diablo II was the last actually good Diablo game. And I don't even need to have played Diablo III or Diablo IV to say that.

It gave me the opportunity to preemptively put it on Ignore.

FTC v. Microsoft is over, and the judge has decided to deny the FTC’s preliminary injunction request.

You know how I usually say that when a big video game company swallows up a smaller video game company, it always ends badly for the smaller company? Well... in this particular case, it's probably more of a lateral move at worst. It would be rather damn difficult for Microsoft to fuck over Activision Blizzard any worse than Activision Blizzard has already been fucking itself over for the past decade or two.

In fact, if anything, this may well be one of the nigh non-existent cases of a smaller company actually being improved by being sucked down the gullet of a larger company. Though, just to note, Activision Blizzard utterly ceasing to exist at all would be an "improvement," as far as I'm concerned, so that's not really saying much.

Blizzard, continuing to be utter shit, in a decade-plus long tradition of being utter shit.

(EDIT) Also, this Nerf NOW!! comic is relevant. (/EDIT)

Link to comic.

Well... I mean... the actual problem there is that you're playing Diablo IV in the first place. *shrug*

Also, it's kind of funny (weird funny, not ha ha funny), because last time, they were mocking gamers who complained about this stuff. Now, they're complaining about this stuff. Go figure.

(Yet another "'diablo iii' tag is my de facto 'blizzard sucks' tag" and "I wish I'd called it 'asinine anti-offline trend' instead of 'asinine anti-singleplayer trend' but oh well" type of post.)

Blizzard continues to devolve into a massive puddle of diarrhea. Well, a worse one, anyway, since they've already long been a puddle of diarrhea, for over a decade now.

I keep thinking back to how I used to feel about Blizzard Entertainment, pre-2011 or so, compared to how I feel about Blizzard Entertainment now, and it is completely night and day. Prior to the whole Diablo 3 fiasco, Blizzard games were no-brainer, day one purchases for me. Now, I wouldn't play a modern Blizzard game if you paid me to do so, doesn't matter what it is or how ostensibly good people claim it to be, and I'm sure as steaming shit not going to spend my own money on any of it. The combination of the fact that the higher ups at Blizzard are increasingly being exposed as actively evil and the fact that the games themselves have just been demonstrably, objectively worse between then and now is just... urgh.

I hate it. All of it. To hell with Blizzard forever.
kane_magus: (Default)

Shock of shocks: Activision Blizzard continues to suck diseased, encrusted asshole. Them and Micro$hit merging will be a match made in hell, if it goes through.

(Once again, to repeat, the "diablo iii" tag is my de facto "activision blizzard sucks" tag, because I can't be bothered to go back and fix all the times I linked to the "diablo iii" tag when talking about how much Activision Blizzard sucks in a context that didn't directly relate to Diablo III and how much Diablo III sucks. Though if they end up merging with Micro$hit, I guess I'd just start using the "microsoft sucks" tag for it all. *shrug*)
kane_magus: (Default)

This is the first I'm hearing of this story, and it's pretty funny, especially to hear Woolie and Pat tell it. It's actually kind of amazing how I used to be probably one of the biggest Blizzard fanboys possible, until Diablo III happened, and now I'm all MichaelJacksonEatingPopcorn.gif whenever news of Blizzard's seemingly escalating misfortunes comes to light.

Fuck Blizzard.
kane_magus: (Default)

I mean, (Activision) Blizzard is a dumbfuck company who has been making dumbfuck decisions for the past fifteen years now, so it doesn't surprise me that they almost made yet another dumbfuck decision. Honestly, if anything about it does surprise me, it's that they didn't actually go all the way through with it.

In any case, as far as I'm concerned, the whole of Activision Blizzard can go to hell.

Really, the probably truest reason this idea was shot down was, as one of the comments said, someone probably nominated "Bobby Kotick can go to hell," and it got upvoted by everyone else, and Activision execs (maybe Bobby himself) got butthurt and shut the whole thing down.

(The "diablo iii" tag is my de facto "blizzard sucks" tag, but I'm not changing that shit now, after all these years.)
kane_magus: (Default)

"The state of California has brought a massive lawsuit against Activision Blizzard for sexual discrimination and harassment."

And here I thought Activision Blizzard was "merely" a shitty company who has been releasing shitty, subpar video games for the past decade or so. As it turns out, they're actual scum, apparently. Imagine that.

(EDIT) And it makes shit like this (note: link is from 2014) seem even more disingenuous. (/EDIT)
kane_magus: (Default)
It's called Diablo II: Resurrected.

They may even be letting it be playable offline. (Though I'll only believe that if and when I hear about it after the game is actually released.)

And yet, it doesn't really matter if they do or don't, because after Blizzard's decade-long bungling of Diablo III and also the upcoming Diablo IV via making them always online, I just can't bring myself to care about anything Blizzard does anymore, even if they may have potentially pulled their heads out of their asses just this once.
kane_magus: (Default)
"Diablo 4 will not have an offline mode and will require an internet connection to play, Blizzard said during an interview at BlizzCon today."

And thus, same as with Diablo 3, this one has also gone into my "well, then fuck off and die" list of games that I'll never buy or play. I wouldn't care if it came "never," at this point.

Don't expect a shit-ton of posts from me ranting about it, though. I simply don't give that much of a fuck anymore. I certainly don't have any fucks left to give to Blizzard, that's for sure. Mind you, while I do still wholeheartedly endorse Blizzard going off and choking to death on their own shit, of course, the whole thing just doesn't enrage me nearly as much as it did when they shat the bed with Diablo 3, mainly because it was completely expected that Blizzard would be just as fucking dumbshit with the fourth game as they were with the third. It honestly would have shocked me more if they'd said there would be an offline mode in Diablo 4. I still probably wouldn't have bothered with it if they did say that, but I'd have been ever so slightly less inclined to just write it off out of hand as a lost cause, as I am now. *shrug*

And, same as always, there are just as many Blizzard fuckbois/reputation management drones down in the comments under that article as there ever were under any given Diablo 3 article. Some things will never change, I guess.
