I've recently had an excuse to go back and look through my anti-"online only" rants (most of which seem to be about Diablo III). I reread those old rants from oldest to newest, noting how increasingly frantic they tended to get, and then I look at the general state of the video game industry as it is today, now, and I can only shake my head sadly and simply decide to finally join
owsf2000 completely in just utterly and absolutely no longer giving even the slightest crap about any of it at all. It's just not worthwhile to keep futilely hoping that things will stop sucking and go back to the good ol' days prior to when all of this crap became "normal" and "accepted" as it clearly has at this point, because that will never happen now. It's far too entrenched a thing now. I hope I'm wrong on that but... well... no... there I go hoping again. Seriously, this is some depressing shit.
Viva retro gaming, I guess, as well as those few indie devs out there who are wise enough to attempt to mimic retro games with their projects and leave out all of the extraneous, superfluous bullshit that plagues most so-called "triple-A" titles these days.
*weary, defeated sigh*
(EDIT)
*reads all the posts made after this one, in which he continues to rant and rant and rant about this shit.*
Ah well, if nothing else, it's pretty cathartic to get that stuff out there and out of my system.
