On the one hand, it always sucks when people lose their jobs. On the other hand, this frees these people up to perhaps get jobs at places that aren't shit, so there is that at least. I'm not going to feel schadenfreude over this, though, because the people losing their jobs here almost assuredly aren't any of the ones making all the shit decisions in the first place. And yet, even so, I can't help but feel a tinge of hope that this might just be among the first inklings that EA is about to go out the same way THQ did. EA completely shutting down forever would be one of the best things to happen to the video game industry as a whole in a very long time. I don't see it actually happening any time soon, but again, I can always hope, at least.

I had to go wiki up THQ's info after reading that. I've been boycotting their products since their CEO at the time a few years back said some things in interviews that really pissed me off regarding their future strategy for the company. Can't remember now if it was regarding DLC practices or DRM practices or a mix of the two or something similar.

Offhand I don't think there was much in their portfolio of games that I found interesting anyway.

Yeah, THQ is pretty much dead and gone now. About the only games of theirs that I had any interest in were the wrestling games.

That's somewhat better than the rumors of EA getting them (http://kane-magus.livejournal.com/620342.html) I'd heard back when all this first went down.
