It looks like Penny Arcade has managed to piss off the Internet yet again. Essentially, Gabe said some ignorant and stupid things on Twitter (once again), and at least half of the Internet seems to think he's evil incarnate. From what I've seen, part of it is legitimate grievance, and part of it is absurd overreaction as is typical of the Internet as a whole. While some are trying to be adult about it, many, many more, on both sides, are giving their inner Internet Fuckwad free rein. Also, some devs are pulling out of PAX over this.
Here are Gabe's responses to the whole thing on the PA website itself, so far. Tycho has remained completely silent on the issue, at least as of this post (not that that's stopping people saying "those Penny Arcade guys" when talking about what Gabe said).
Thing is, though, if this were an isolated incident it would be one thing, but this is in addition to the whole dickwolves thing as well. Having sort of watched all of this stuff unfold as it happened, my personal opinion on the matter is that, as I said above, while there are some people on both sides trying to be not idiotic about this, it's the incredibly loud, braying jackasses on both sides of this issue who are far, far too invested in Being Right On The Internet that are the real problem. I don't know Gabe or Tycho from Adam, but I've gotten the impression that neither of them are bad guys overall (in contrast to their louder detractors, who seem to just write them off completely as pure human filth). I do think Gabe at least is pretty firmly planted in the "braying jackass" category, though.

See, I was right. Gabe isn't as terrible a guy as a lot of people were making him out to be.
And yet, there are people who think he's still just an insincere asshole, and that this is just him "throwing money at a problem so it will go away." To them, nothing he can say or do will ever be enough, apparently. Those people are as big a part, if not even bigger, of the overall problem as Gabe himself ever was.
