Yeah, I know this is over a month old, but I only just saw it today. Though this is certainly not the first time that this sort of thing has come up.
Okay, it's one thing to rant about the really stupid things that the game industry is doing. I'm all about me some of that ranting shit.
It's another thing entirely, however, to send threats of bodily harm and death directly to the game devs (and/or their children) themselves. That ain't cool. I mean, it's bad enough that I actually agree with Jim fucking Sterling for once, despite how big of a git as I usually think that guy is.
Of course, it isn't limited to video games, though. Any discussion of, say, politics or religion or Twilight or what have you that consists of more than a dozen people in an online anonymous forum is going to rife with death threats and the like against those of the opposing view points. On the one hand, I could just say "Welcome to the Internet. It comes with the territory." But wouldn't it be a much better place if that sort of bullshit, you know, didn't come with the territory?
