That really blows.
Wadjet Eye Games tried to give out free Steam codes for one of their games (which are rather awesome, by the way).
But then, a bunch of encrusted, pestilent dickholes snatched most of them up for the purposes of selling these free codes. I don't know who I detest more, the buckets of pus who snatched up the Steam codes to sell them, or all the pinheads out there who would have been imbecilic enough to actually pay money for them, such that this so-called "business" of selling free Steam keys is made viable for the shitstains who snatched them up. And then, Wadjet Eye unfortunately ends up looking like the bad guy to the people who tried to get the free game legit but then lost it due to all of the keys being invalidated thanks to the aforementioned asshats.
Oh well, if nothing else, as Mr. Gilbert himself admitted in the interview, this put Wadjet Eye back in the spotlight again in a way that a merely successful free-game-giveaway alone probably wouldn't have, which was the main reason they were doing this giveaway in the first place, so it wasn't a complete loss for them I guess. I'm sure they'd rather have just had a successful game giveaway, though. Thanks to this fiasco, as Mr. Gilbert also said, "At best we look naive, at worst we look incompetent."
Besides all of that, the fact that the reaction to the idea of getting a free-but-not-on-Steam game was apparently "brutal" is mind-bogglingly asinine to me. For that matter, the concept of "no Steam, no buy" in general (i.e. that some people will flat out refuse to buy any game that isn't available on Steam, regardless of any other considerations) is similarly mind-bogglingly asinine, as well... but that's a different rant altogether.
Man... I apparently get even pissier than normal when I'm up initially only in order to send a sick day email to work, and then, instead of immediately going back to bed like I should have, I make the terrible decision to go ahead and check my email/newsfeed "while I'm up, might as well," and then see something like this that makes me fly off the handle. Ugh. Going back to bed now.
