Yeah, here's another article about that whole Minecraft thing that's been going down recently.
However, if it had been only that, I wouldn't have bothered making this post. I'm making this post more for the following video that I found in the comments under that article, which does a pretty good job of explaining both sides of the issue.

The fact that DDoS protection is pretty much a required cost to run a big public server (and is apparently so expensive[1]) or else your server will no longer exist is a sad damn state of affairs. Why must human beings be such assholes?
[1] - I was seeing some sites advertising "affordable" DDoS protection starting at about $250 per month. That might be fine for some huge company, but for a little guy running a Minecraft server it's pretty ridiculous.

I suspect that some dicks hammer servers being protected by that shit on purpose just to see if they can DDoS it. It's like those services are throwing down a gauntlet and making themselves a target.
