Here's some more serious fucking business surrounding video games, related to that other serious fucking business. The very fact that a video game developer is, apparently, able to levy the USD equivalent of a $5701.33 fine (or any amount at all that isn't in make believe video game money) against players, even "professional" players like this, even if said "professional" players are indeed douchehats, is sort of ludicrous to me.

Well, on the one hand, this is all about contract law for the most part. It'd be the same kind of situation on any "sport".

But on the other hand, that people actually choose to make a living out of this is still pretty retarded. That they're all serious about it is even more so.

This also ties in with the whole "open letter to parents" thing you posted earlier. I fully agree with the parental side.

But let's go one step further. If this League of Legends wants to be a legit industry the way it's pretending to be right now, it should seriously overhaul who it lets sign up. In particular, it should only let ADULTS sign up if there's real money involved. That way they can cast off these poor players affected by the young teens being told to go to bed, do their homework, eat supper, mow the lawn, etc etc in the middle of their precious game.

If the kid knows these things are important, they'd take that first step and doublecheck with the parental units to make sure it's ok to start again rather than expecting said parents to be patient and understanding about a fucking game.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of esports either. I play my games to relieve stress, not add an extra vector for it. So sorry to anyone that might feel offended, but you'd get no pity or sympathy from me about your stats being affected because you'd apparently take anyone with good reflexes on your team to win rather than making sure you have dependable players with sufficient control over their own lives to make sure they can live up to expectations. (Hint: Kiddies do not make the cut.)

I think that's all I wanted to rant about.

From what I gather it's not so much sports as it is betting and hoping you win the bet - of course being the player gives incentive to making sure you win that bet I guess.

I wonder if any team's been known to throw a match and have a friend bet against them, for them. ^^

It happens (https://www.google.com/search?num=100&q=collusion+fighting+games&oq=collusion+fighting+games&gs_l=serp.3..0.24291.26894.0.27010.16.11.1.4.5.0.136.919.8j3.11.0.msedr...0...1c.1.61.serp..0.16.927.LeI3E1xfxwY) in "professional" fighting game tournaments as well, what with fighting game players being another group that consider their hobby to be Serious Fucking Business™ like MOBA players.
