I think the video card on my desktop is on its last legs. Right now I'm using my laptop to make this post. (Good fucking thing I got that finally fixed, right?)
I turned my desktop on this morning and it was working fine for a while. However, I left the room for a while, and when I came back, the monitor was off with the power light flashing, indicating no signal. Also, one of the fans was running super loud, and now I'm pretty sure it was the fan on the video card. Sometimes if I reboot it, it'll get halfway into loading Windows before losing signal. But sometimes, especially if I tried to reboot it immediately rather than waiting a bit, I'd get failure beeps immediately on trying to boot. One long beep followed by three short beeps. The manual for the motherboard on my desktop says that indicates "No VGA detected," which leads me to believe that it's an issue with the video card.
Unfortunately, I don't have time to fuck around with it today, as I'll be leaving in a couple of hours with my mom to spend the night at my sister's house, since my mom has a doctor appointment in the morning and it's simpler to get there from my sister's house than trying to go there straight from here. So... yeah, I'll be under mostly radio silence for the next couple days or so.
Unless there's a simple fix that I haven't found yet (and I haven't really looked yet, except to confirm that other people have had this issue and it usually meant video card problems), then I'll likely be needing to buy a new damn video card. But then, if it's not the video card that's the issue, but the PCI-E slot on the motherboard itself... well... this computer as a whole is over six years old, including the video card and motherboard, so I suppose it was only a matter of time before shit started to break. *weary sigh*
