Interesting. Less because of the games, but because GameMaker itself is in the bundle, as well as source code for most of the games (or only the source code, in some cases).
I'm considering biting on this just to get GameMaker, if nothing else. Well, I have about two weeks to decide, at any rate.

Date: 2017-08-06 03:29 pm (UTC)From:This is probably a good enough deal that I should at least attempt it again though and I can likely afford the 15 dollar+ option to get the extra platforms. I'll pick up a mastarcard gift card this evening and give it a shot and post about the results either way it goes. If I find I can't make the purchase I'll just spend the card on bandcamp since there's a bunch of vocaloid music out I wanna buy on there.

Date: 2017-08-07 12:27 am (UTC)From:That is, it's still on my wish list, but there's no price tag for it and you can't visit the store page anymore. This also means there's probably no more support for the original anymore, so if there are any bugs in it you can expect them to stay there. I dunno if it runs well on the latest Windows or not, but as microsoft continues to tweak and force everyone to upgrade I suspect that'll become an issue eventually as well.
The new game maker studio on steam doesn't have a free version either. I guess they figger they don't need to advertise their software anymore so there's just the more expensive GM2.
I guess I have issue with them boasting the value of the Game Maker bundles in the humble when it's not actually possible to buy them anymore as well. (Only Game Maker 2 is available for sale now, both on Steam and at YoYo Games directly.)
Still, this may be the last chance to buy it at all (the pre GM2 edition anyway) so you should grab it if you think you'll ever make use of it.

Date: 2017-08-07 02:43 pm (UTC)From:Basically I went ahead and got a mastercard gift card yesterday anyway so I could buy some more stuff off bandcamp as planned, and there's some money left over. Either way I'll think about it tonight and probably attempt to get the humble bundle. (But as I said I've had horrible luck with their website beyond the original 2 humble bundles.)

Date: 2017-08-11 02:35 pm (UTC)From:One thing to note, not everything you'll get is redeemable on steam apparently. In the humble bundle page you'll get, the games themselves will have steam keys. There will be download links to the source codes and misc stuff (haven't tried downloading them yet.) but the Game Maker and modules themselves have to be redeemed through yoyo games directly, so be prepared to make an account. Painful Experience. (Mainly with trying to get the damned captcha to work. Otherwise all you need is an email address.)
I'm not going to install game maker on this comp since I plan on getting a new one later this month or next and I'm fairly certain the license has a 3 activation limit. (Thank you Spore for making that somewhat popular.)

Date: 2017-08-13 11:13 pm (UTC)From:To me, the stupidest thing is that, while GameMaker Studio is indeed not redeemable through Steam directly via the Humble site, once you activate the Humble licenses on the YoYo Games site, you then can link GMS1 to Steam via the YoYo Games site. So.... ....why the fuck didn't YoYo Games just give Steam keys to Humble to begin with, given that GMS1 is still on Steam, even if you can no longer directly buy it on Steam? Just to force people to create a YoYo Games account, I guess (which, to be fair, you probably would've had to do anyway)? Granted, there is no longer a way to access the GMS1 Steam store page (even if you click "Store Page" in Steam itself for the GMS1 item in the Steam library, it just redirects to the base level Steam page). That said, GMS1 does still have a Steam forums page, though (at least for now).
Also, after you redeem GMS1 on Steam via the YoYo Games site via the Humble site, you apparently get a 40% discount for buying GMS2 on Steam, i.e. $59.99 USD instead of $99.99 USD (which is still too rich for my blood at the moment, but may be something to keep in mind for the future, at least). That is, it's the same "Upgrade" discount you get on the YoYo Games site itself. No idea if any potential future Steam promotions on GMS2 (if any) would be in addition to that 40% discount or not, though. I'll add GMS2 to my wishlist on Steam just so that I'll presumably get any discount notifications in the future. We'll see how that goes.
Anyway, onward to not using GameMaker Studio for much of anything at all, same as I've done with RPG Maker so far! ¬_¬

Date: 2017-08-17 05:55 pm (UTC)From:Although I suppose it would remove your license for 1.4 at the same time (and the ability to do an offline verification check.) Apparently some people have gripes with version 2 anyway so I won't be in a hurry to upgrade. (At least one comment left in the steam comments included something about 2.0 working fine for them until the latest update - then the program wouldn't run anymore. Hurrah for auto-updating without the ability to downgrade.
