Also, doesn't this anonymous resistance sort of feed into Trump's delusions that there is a "deep state" that is out to get him or whatever? Maybe this anonymous resistance guy is QAnon's arch rival or something.

I mean, sure, I want to believe as hard as the next guy that there are "adults in the room," who are doing everything they can to try to mitigate Trump's dumbshit, but the more I think about it, the more that anonymous op-ed seems like CYA bullshit, sort of the Trump-era equivalent to "I was just following orders."

I predict (only half-facetiously) that every member of the Trump administration will try to point to themselves as the author of that anonymous piece once the domino chain really starts to come tumbling down.

That's the optimistic take. The pessimistic take is that it was just a bone thrown to the hashtag-Resistance in an attempt to at least temporarily placate them, all while they (i.e. the anonymous "resister" and his/her ilk) continue to blithely pillage the government while using Trump as a smokescreen.
Hell, in the op-ed itself, the anonymous writer couldn't stop themselves from claiming "There are bright spots that the near-ceaseless negative coverage of the administration fails to capture: effective deregulation, historic tax reform, a more robust military and more," which is, itself, blatant horseshit. So, yeah, the op-ed writer is in it pretty thick, and couldn't even manage to hide that in their very op-ed piece.
