That's the kind of thing that makes you want to say "Hmm."
And also, "You stupid motherfucking assholes."
And maybe, "To hell with Apple forever."
Well, that's what I would say if I were an Apple customer, which I'm not and will never be, for which I am super glad.
All hail the glorious digital future, amiright?

Date: 2018-09-15 07:44 pm (UTC)From:I'd suspect any company should realize the negative backlash doing what Apple did has lasting consequences by now. For instance, Amazon did this exact thing with their kindle years ago. I've absolutely 0 intention of ever buying either an Amazon owned ereader, or drmed ebooks from Amazon. All because they went about deleting paid copies of fucking 1984 of all things.
I'm already against getting any iphone thanks to their tendency to go both adding unwanted mp3s to people's accounts as well as "helpfully" removing any non-itune purchased mp3 when doing some syncing crap a while back. However if Apple didn't already have a track record of invading their customer's paid devices in this manner, then this story of them deleting paid digital purchases would have sealed the deal.

Date: 2018-09-16 04:28 pm (UTC)From:For what it's worth, Steam can nuke (and already has nuked) people's accounts if they find the accounts have violated some bullet point or other in the terms of service. But that's (ostensibly) more the fault of those who had their accounts nuked than it is Steam's fault, so it is still deemed acceptable by most people (aside, perhaps, from those who have had their accounts nuked).
