So I was playing Terraria just now (still am, actually, just pausing for a bit to write this [EDIT] actually, this took longer to write up than I was intending, so I may just call it for tonight, oh well [/EDIT]).
I'd just breezed through a Pumpkin Moon (surprisingly, since it got kind of hectic when it hit wave 15), so when night rolled around again, I decided to try a Frost Moon, which is basically the same thing as the Pumpkin Moon, just harder. I survived it, but only got to around wave 12 or so, dying a few times in the process (which didn't happen during the Pumpkin Moon, even on wave 15 of that). With a bit of tweaking of the arena I have set up, I think the Frost Moon should also become a bit easier.
Well, when I finished the Frost Moon and dawn arrived, the game decided to start up a Solar Eclipse. So I teleported back to my home base, turned on my defenses, and sat through that, only moving to take out the occasional Mothron that would just ignore the walls and fly right at me. On the bright side, I finally got enough Broken Hero Swords I need to make the Terra Blade. (Still can't make it quite yet, because I need to pop down toHellthe Underworld for a bit to nab some more UnderworldHellstone to make a Fiery Greatsword [one of the ingredients for the Night's Edge, which is, itself, an ingredient for the Terra Blade]). But then, I already have a Flying Dragon from the Old One's Army, so it's not like I'll actually be using the Terra Blade much anyway. *shrug* Still going to make one, though. (EDIT) Well, I have a Terra Blade now, and I kind of forgot how beast it was from when I played the game several years ago and got one. That said, the Flying Dragon still has the huge advantage of the fact that its projectile ignores collision with walls, unlike the Terra Blade, so I may still stick with that, anyway. (I typically use Vampire Knives or the Razorblade Typhoon for general purpose stuff anyway, and mostly keep the Flying Dragon around for exploration purposes, since it lights up caves when it flies through the ground and such. Well, no, actually, for general purpose stuff now, I usually just let my UFOs kill everything, while I mostly ignore it all and just do whatever I was set about doing. I really like the minion and sentry weapons in this game. That said, there have been times where I've actually had to turn them off, as they're sometimes too efficient at killing things. >_>;) (/EDIT)
Well, when the Solar Eclipse ended and it went back to night again, the game decided to then hit me with a Blood Moon. It wasn't that big of a deal, since if you can make it through a Solar Eclipse, a Blood Moon is nothing, but still, it was rare to have these things back to back like that, so I decided to sit through the Blood Moon as well, just for shits and giggles.
Well, when the Blood Moon ended and it turned day again, the game then decided it was time for a Pirate Invasion. Never have I seen this many events back to back like this. Oh well, it just meant more money for me, especially since I recently set up some teleporters to teleport away the ground-based pirates (rather than killing them) after the invasion hits 50%, so that I can farm the Flying Dutchman whenever it shows up.
Aside from the Frost Moon being kind of tough, none of that was anything I hadn't dealt with before, but I just thought it was kind of crazy that the game threw all of that at me one after the other.
The only thing I really have left to do in the game that I haven't even tried yet is to do the Lunar Events and defeat the Moon Lord, which is the final boss in the game (at least for now, assuming they don't add in something even higher tier later). I think I might just go ahead and do that next, anyway, and get some truly end-game equipment, before trying the Frost Moon again.
Well... and then there's creating an Expert world and doing it all again. I'll definitely be bringing my current character into that, rather than starting fresh, though. I tried an Expert mode world with a beginner character before, and even the basic slimes are pretty tough to kill for a starter character in Expert, let alone the zombies and demon eyes and such. I don't think it would be impossible to play an Expert mode world from scratch, but it's not really something I'm willing to try myself, at least not in singleplayer, anyway.
So, yeah, in case it wasn't obvious yet, this post also serves as me shilling Terraria pretty hard, too. It's an awesome game, I have to say, and one of the few games I might even be willing to give a try in multiplayer, if I had anyone else who wanted to play it (i.e. not randos, because screw that). >_>;
