Okay... I have to admit that when I first saw this, my initial thought was that VS is really starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel for content now.
But then, I remembered that I was mostly okay with the all the Terraria stuff and the Bloodstained stuff[1] (and, hell, there's apparently a new thing in Bloodstained that I didn't even know about until the writing of this very post), so I guess this crossover thing in VS is in line with all of that.
(It's just that I don't give the first flying fuck about Among Us at all, and I am more than a little tired of how rife the Internet is with memes relating to "Amogus" or whatever, I guess. That's all. And VS doing a crossover with AU isn't going to change that opinion, either. If anything, it just reinforces it. ¬_¬)
In any case, I would have to reinstall Vampire Survivors if I want to try this new stuff, since a few weeks ago, I finally uninstalled it for the first time since buying it. And, you know, buy the new DLC when it comes out, since it apparently will cost $2.49 USD. I'm not in any great hurry, to be honest. The "Adventures" stuff sounds kind of interesting, though.
[1] - Well, not so much the Blasphemous one, since the crossover was only one way, as there still has been no Blasphemous content added to Bloodstained as far as I am aware (as of now, at least).
I actually stopped and watched the credits play this time (they're tied to your character while you still move around and such) after killing the Moon Lord, rather than mostly ignore them the way I did in my Classic world.
Another thing I did that made things more interesting was to switch the soundtrack from the normal one to the Terraria Otherworld soundtrack (i.e. the soundtrack from the new game that was, unfortunately, canceled years ago). The only annoying things about this is that you can't do it until the Party Girl moves in (and only after you've unlocked it by visiting a Drunk world at least once, which I did long ago) and that you have to visit the Party Girl every time you restart the game, since it goes back to the normal soundtrack by default on a fresh load.
Not counting some of the achievements, like completely purifying the world or doing all the Angler quests or drinking water while drowning or whatever, the only things I haven't done is beat the Empress of Light on the Master World, beat the Empress of Light fully in daytime (where she does one hit kills) on any world, and seriously try one of the unique world seeds, particularly the "Get fixed boi" world, which combines several of the others into one (and which kind of sounds like a realpainchallenge even for anyone that has beaten a "normal" Master mode world).
I think, finally, that I'm kind of Terrara'd out for now, though. If/when I ever do play it again, I'll most likely use this same character (or, if I'm feeling particularly masochistic, start a new character) and try a "Get fixed boi" world.

Beat Moon Lord again in Terraria
Sep. 30th, 2023 03:05 amIt's been a while since last time I did it, since I didn't actually end up doing that during the playthrough I made all those posts about last year.

Random Terraria stuff
Dec. 29th, 2022 02:18 pmKind of weird and convenient that I just happened to start playing Terraria again, first, during Halloween, and then, again, after a month or so break, during Christmas, such that I've gotten a bunch of Halloween/Christmas related stuff (mostly cosmetic, vanity items that don't really matter, but still). Wasn't intentional, but it just worked out that way. I (re)started with a new character during Halloween on a small world, and a few days ago, I (re)started again (though with the same character with which I'd reached Hardmode) on a pre-Hardmode large world. Haven't bothered to kill the Wall of Flesh in this new world to activate Hardmode yet. At first, I considered rushing it so that I could fight a Frost Legion in order to have Santa Claus move into my village, but after I read that you can get him to move in at anytime (for a day, at least) even when it's not during the Christmas event, just by finishing the Frost Moon event, the FOMO faded away.
Anyway, it's also kind of weird that when I go into the game with a "goal" in mind (e.g. looking for specific NPCs in the world or trying to reach the conditions required for them to appear, or looking for specific enemies for farming or whatever), I've found that I feel like I have less fun than when I just decide to say "y'know what, screw all that 'goal' shit" and just randomly wander around, for pure exploration's sake. Often, I tend to happen across the thing I had been looking for previously, regardless, even if I'm not specifically seeking it out at that moment.

Terraria: Getting biome keys.
Mar. 21st, 2022 06:41 pmSince last time, I found that the "fastest" way to get biome keys is to create a temporary world, then harvest a shit-ton of whatever blocks you need to create a biome (snow/ice for Tundra, sand for Desert, etc.) and then completely replace the forest biome at the natural spawn point (all of which is why I say "fastest," in "not really" quotes). Then build a little house for yourself at the spawn point. After all of that, drop down to the Underworld long enough to kill the Wall of Flesh and convert the temp world into Hardmode. Once you've got all of that interminable setup out of the way, go to your little house at spawn, plop down a Water Candle (if you have one), plop down a Garden Gnome (if you have one), quaff a Battle Potion (if you have one), quaff a Luck Potion (if you have one, and the more powerful the better, obviously), and then, if you have the proper summoning items, summon either a Goblin Army, Pirate Invasion, or (if it is night) a Blood Moon. You could probably do it with a Solar Eclipse or a Martian invasion, too, but unlike the others, those spawn enemies that can attack through walls, so it's not ideal. That said, it is really helpful to have your own way to attack through walls, though, such as a Legendary Flying Dragon in my case.
After doing all of the above to create a Desert, I got a Desert Key a bit into the second Pirate Invasion. I'd also done the same thing before that in a different temp world, but for a Tundra biome to get the Frozen Key, and it wasn't quite as fast, but nearly so. So now, except for the Corruption Key (which, apparently, is supposedly "easy" to get just by farming the Eater of Worlds) for the Scourge of the Corruptor (which I might or might not bother with, haven't decide yet), I've gotten all of the Dungeon Chest items (including the Vampire Knives[1] from a Crimson world, as I've mentioned before).
Now, as per usual, all that's left is to maybe farm Duke Fishron a few more times to get the rest of his stuff, set up for and complete the Pumpkin and Frost Moon events and get all I want from those, kill the Empress of Light (which I haven't done yet) a few times to get all of her (normal) stuff, maybe try to get a Terraprisma from the daytime Empress (which apparently takes a lot more setup to "safely" complete than I'm willing to do at the moment, especially after all the other setup shit I've already done for the above), and then, lastly, do the Lunar Events and kill the Moon Lord a few times to get all of the stuff I want from those. Except for the Empress of Light stuff (since she's a new boss that wasn't in the game when I played it a few years ago), I've done it all before. And, of course, start over in an Expert world and do it all again (and then again in a Master world). Last time I played it, I got as far as that "start over in Expert" step before I just quit and moved on to other games. We'll see how that goes this time, I guess.
[1] - Which I hardly even fucking use anymore, despite how relatively annoying they were to acquire, now that I have that Flying Dragon from the Old One's Army event. And then the Flying Dragon itself will most likely be replaced soon enough with a Zenith. Hell, except for an Enchanted Sword, Meowmere, and Star Wrath, I already have (or can easily craft) all the swords I need to make a Zenith.

Terraria: Finally got my Cell Phone back.
Mar. 16th, 2022 03:16 pmAfter over two weeks of off-and-on play, I was finally able to craft a new Cell Phone. The hold out on giving me what I needed, contrary to my expectations, was not the Angler, this time, but instead the Traveling Merchant and his fucking Stopwatch.
Anyway, I've freed up a bunch of inventory slots now, thanks to this. I just hope this Cell Phone doesn't mysteriously disappear for no good reason like the last one did. ¬_¬
Aside from that... I've beaten Duke Fishron (though I haven't killed him enough times to get all of his shit that I want, which requires hunting for more Truffle Worms, which I haven't bothered to do yet) and the Martian invasion event (enough so that I have multiple copies of all the drops from the Martian Saucer and others, and enough so that I'm fucking sick of seeing the Martian Probe now, because if it sees me then gets away, it triggers another invasion, which is pretty tedious at this point).
Still have whatever else that's left to do before considering Normal mode, at least, complete (again). Right now, though, I'm just kind of chilling a bit, alternately farming in manufactured Tundra and Desert, via riding back and forth on a Minecart and for the most part just letting my 6-7 (currently, though I'm shooting for being able to summon even more than that later) UFO minions kill things mostly offscreen, to get the biome keys needed for the Staff of the Frost Hydra and the Desert Tiger Staff. (I doubt I'll bother farming for the Scourge of the Corruption in the Corruption, though, even if it is the only other Dungeon chest item I don't have yet.)

Terraria: ups and downs
Mar. 1st, 2022 03:01 pmMade some more progress since last time I posted about it.
A big downside, first. Somehow, I lost my fucking cell phone. No idea what happened. I went to use it, and it wasn't in my inventory. I shouldn't have been able to drop/sell/stash it in a chest accidentally, because I had it marked as favorite, which is supposed to prevent that. And yet, somehow, it has vanished. I spent like an hour or so meticulously combing through the multitude of chests I have in my town and outposts, on the off chance that maybe I did stash it somewhere without thinking about it, but I didn't find it. My guess, and this is only a guess, is that there might be some kind of bug involving the town pylons, as setting up and using a few of those was the last thing I did before noticing the cell phone was gone. In any case, I now have to go through the annoying process of gathering all the individual components needed to craft one again. The most annoying of those is going to be the metal detector (especially now that I'm in Hardmode, which makes the Nymph spawn even more rarely), whatever shit the Traveling Merchant sells (since he doesn't show up every day and even when he does he's not at all guaranteed to have any of what I need), and, lastly and potentially most annoying of all, the Angler quest shit that I need for a Fish Finder (because the Angler is an asshole and only gives one quest per in-game day). Once I do all that and make a new cell phone, I'll probably find the original one in a chest I didn't properly check or some shit. *eye roll*
On the bright side, Plantera is mostly a non-issue now and is mostly just another source of resources if I need it. I've still got some things I want to get from the post-Plantera dungeon, but my main goal now is to scour the Jungle Temple (and probably temples in other worlds, too) for traps that I can use at my main town, because I just had a Solar Eclipse event. The puny darts and geysers I had set up from before just didn't cut it. If I hadn't lucked out and got a Deadly Sphere Staff early into the event, it would have been much more difficult. Even so, thanks to a combination of Mothrons and Reapers just ignoring walls and shit, I myself was killed once, along with the Guide, Painter, Stylist, and Clothier. The Princess came pretty close to dying, too. One good thing to come of it, though, is that I got a couple Broken Hero Swords, so now I can make a Terra Blade, once I make/find the prerequisites for it.
Oh, and I paused on my main world for a bit to go into a Crimson world and pick up some Vampire Knives. Slightly annoying in that before I could do that, I had to first kill the Wall of Flesh, then all three mechanical bosses, then Plantera, then kill enemies in the Crimson until they dropped a Crimson key, and then, lastly survive long enough in the post-Plantera dungeon to find the Crimson chest. The Vampire Knives were worth all that, though, and it didn't take too awfully long. I'd already gotten a Rainbow Gun and Piranha Gun from my original world's chests previously, which was also pretty nice. There's other stuff to find, too, some of which isn't in the Biome chests. My main target, which I haven't found yet in this playthrough, isn't in one of those.
Basically, I'm gearing up for Golem and then Duke Fishron, and then the stuff that comes after. Oh, and phase three of the Old One's Army, which also unlocks after beating Golem. I'm kind of close to the end, but not really? Also, this is all just on a normal difficulty world, mind you. There's still Expert and Master.

Terraria choke/bottleneck points
Feb. 16th, 2022 06:40 pmOkay, I'm up to one of several semi-annoying points in the game where I can't progress any further until I beat a particular boss, in this case at least one of the mechanical bosses, but I can't do that because they keep kicking my ass. So now I'm starting to have to look at specific strategies on how to beat them, many of which involve building arenas and using particular weapons/armor/accessories that I don't have yet and would have to grind/farm specific enemies to get. On the other hand, it's kind of invigorating, too, because I'm seeing new shit that wasn't in the game back when I played it before, dropping from enemies that weren't in the game before. I mean, sure, I'm technically spoiling myself, but on the whole, I'd rather know a thing exists and that I can actively seek it out, than to not know that and just be randomly surprised when one drops (which has happened a few times already in this playthrough). Also, more often than not, if you do find something completely at random, you'll already have much better gear by that point, so as cool as some new toy may be, you'll end up not using it since what you already had was better.

Started playing Terraria again. This time, I've turned auto-save back on and will only turn it off temporarily, when I feel the need to do so, rather than just leaving it off all the time.
And... it's over. *sigh*
Jan. 22nd, 2022 12:16 amWelp, my current Terraria playthrough lasted right up until a random-ass power outage, earlier today. At which point I noted that I had turned off auto-saving at some point, for reasons, meaning that I lost several hours of playtime. But then, strangely, when I went back in, I noticed that the map was showing some construction shit that I'd done more recently, just before the power outage, but when I went to that actual location in-world, nothing was there (or, rather, the world was still unchanged from what it had been before I started said project). And also, the map "updated" as I approached, erasing the more recent stuff that it had been showing and replacing it with the older shit that was actually there. Since I basically couldn't trust my saves anymore, I just sighed, deleted my character and associated worlds, and uninstalled. Maybe I'll give it a whirl again in another year or three.
Kind of forgot how awesome Terraria is.
Jan. 12th, 2022 01:24 amI started playing it again on a whim a few days ago, with a fresh character, and I was honestly considering just moving on to something else at first, since the early game is always pretty slow. But now that I have at least gotten far enough to open up the Dungeon (i.e. killed Skeletron) and got a Magic Missile, it has reminded me how fun it is when you start getting better/cooler gear, so I think I'm going to stick with it for now. (More importantly, I've found several traversal items for increasing speed/mobility and also for reducing/nullifying the risk of dying horribly just from falling into a hole and even for just lighting up the surroundings without have to plop down torches every little bit, all of which makes exploring the world a lot quicker.) I mean, I was already starting to feel that way once I got a Starfury (and some Fledgling Wings, though they're really super shitty compared to the crazier wings/hoverboards/etc. you can get later, so getting those was actually a bit oddly disappointing... but still, they let me at least start fucking fly whereas before getting them I couldn't fly at all, so...) before that, and some of the Corruption weapons before that. Haven't yet made a Crimson world to mess around in this time, though, but I'll get to that soon enough, I'm sure.
The main thing that's going to help me stick with Terraria, though, is that since the last time I played it, they've added a ton more cool new stuff to it, not the least of which is an entire new NPC happiness mechanic, which I haven't even touched yet. Right now, because I've just built the same sprawling "apartment complex" kind of thing at the initial spawn like I did the previous time I played it, all the NPCs that have moved in so far are complaining about there being too many people around. Anyway, I'm currently playing on Classic/Normal difficulty and haven't even unlocked Hardmode on my current world yet, let alone started an Expert Mode world or, especially, the new Master Mode, which wasn't even a thing last time I played it.
One of the new things I have encountered is the Don't Starve crossover boss in the snow biome. I already had the Corruption stuff by that time, though, so he wasn't overly difficult to kill. (Having a Flinx summon [one of the new things that wasn't in the game last time I played it] to plink away at him didn't hurt, either.) Hell, for that matter, Don't Starve is a game I should probably try to get back into at some point, too, as I never really got all that far in that in the two or three times I've tried it, over the years. But that'll be at some point after I do all I'm going to do (however much that may end up being) in this playthrough of Terraria, though.

Geez, Terraria, lighten up a bit.
Nov. 13th, 2018 10:10 pmSo I was playing Terraria just now (still am, actually, just pausing for a bit to write this [EDIT] actually, this took longer to write up than I was intending, so I may just call it for tonight, oh well [/EDIT]).
