I don't get all the haters of Star Trek: Discovery who hate it because it is, according to them, "an SJW-agenda-driven promoter of progressive PC culture" or what the hell ever. Yeah, sure, a lot of that is just asinine trolling from the MAGAt/alt-right/4chan/r/The_Donald set, but still. It's just that some of them, in the very next breath, then say that they wish it could be more like the old Star Trek shows, which, they claim, was "real" Star Trek.
What.
Um, hello? I have serious doubts that these people have actually watched any Star Trek, like, at all, because Star Trek, even as far back as the Original Series in the 60s and certainly with Next Generation has always been "an SJW-agenda-driven promoter of progressive PC culture" (with some obvious missteps, in retrospect), except back then, of course, that sort of thing was simply called being inclusive and forward-thinking and, you know, a good thing. In any case, the problem lies with the people who believe that being "an SJW-agenda-driven promoter of progressive PC culture" is, somehow, an inherently bad thing. The problem does not lie with Star Trek itself.
As for the mega-nerds who hate Discovery because it "breaks canon" or whatever, meh, fuck 'em. Star Trek: Enterprise "broke canon" just as much, if not even more so, and yet now they're pointing back to Enterprise as something they wish Star Trek could go back to. Every new Trek show that comes along, from TAS and TNG and onward, has inevitably had its share of haters, who shit all over the current show and praise everything that came before (even if what came before was something that they had also shit all over when it first started). But I guess Discovery is pretty much the first "social media-era" Star Trek show, and it really shows, because it seems, at least to me, like it has an inordinate number of haters, of all types, compared to the previous shows. It is inane.
