And that's not true, at least not for me. Because if it is exclusive to the Epic Games Store, then that is tantamount to not being released at all, as far as I am concerned, because to hell forever with the Epic Games Store.
Fortunately, the exclusivity period for RDR2 is "only" for a month, but that's still a month longer than it should have been, in my not at all humble opinion. But then, I guess Rockstar Games isn't a poor, pitiful indie developer who "needs" Epic's money, which is probably why the exclusivity period is so relatively short, compared to most of the others.
Either way, I don't give a shit. As long as any game is exclusive to Epic Games Store, no matter how long or short that exclusivity period may be, then that is a game for which I have zero fucks to give. Wake me up in a month or a year or whenever, when the game becomes available via a viable distributor that isn't complete shit in the way that Epic Games Store is complete shit.
In the case of RDR2, at least, I suppose you can also buy the game directly from Rockstar itself, bypassing the reviled Epic Games Store, so there is that.
In any case, for me, all of the above is pretty much entirely irrelevant anyway, since my usual policy for buying new games fully applies here.
