Working in a game store is working in retail, no more and no less. I (blessedly briefly) worked in retail back in 2004, and it sucked diseased, encrusted asshole. Any job in which you are forced to have to deal with the general public, even indirectly, is going to suck diseased, encrusted asshole. Because the general public, as we all know, is comprised, to a great extent, of goddamn fucking morons.

This is actually why everyone should have to work in retail at some point in their lives - generally younger part. If we all had to be on that side of the cash we'd all be aware of the level of moronic assholeness people inflict on retail clerks, and then maybe there wouldn't be such moronic assholeness.

The biggest assholes that clerks have to deal with are generally people who were never clerks themselves.

My one big "horror story" from working at Walmart would probably have to be the woman who picked up a DVD out of the bargain bin that wasn't supposed to have been in the bargain bin (most likely because someone else had picked it up from the normal section, decided they didn't want it after all, and just dumped it in the bargain bin on their way out), then she started to chew me out when it rang up at regular price instead of the bargain bin price (because duh, of course it did). I just pressed the intercom, called for a CSM, and stepped back. Didn't even try to deal with it at all myself, other than that.
