And below is my Twitter thread response to said article.
Most of the time when game companies (Nintendo) clamp down on fan games, it irks me, even though the companies are fully in their rights to do what they do. In the context of this one particular case, though? Yeah, I happen to agree with Nintendo's stance. https://t.co/178620jqNC

Also, Kotaku apparently doesn't understand that the fact that "it wasn't being sold and wasn't making money" means exactly jack and shit as far as this sort of thing goes. It also matters exactly jack and shit that "Nintendo is the only company to go to these lengths."

Nintendo doesn't have to let crap like this (or, hell, any of the other potentially less crappy fan-games that they're also continuously C&Ding into oblivion) slide just because *other* companies do so. What other companies do means, once again, exactly jack and shit.

Also, does Kotaku *really* think that, say, Sega would be okay with a game where you go around pumping lead into Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose? Would Square Enix, or Disney, be okay with a game where you run around blasting Sora, Riku, and Kairi or a bunch of Disney toons?
