Okay, I'm up to one of several semi-annoying points in the game where I can't progress any further until I beat a particular boss, in this case at least one of the mechanical bosses, but I can't do that because they keep kicking my ass. So now I'm starting to have to look at specific strategies on how to beat them, many of which involve building arenas and using particular weapons/armor/accessories that I don't have yet and would have to grind/farm specific enemies to get. On the other hand, it's kind of invigorating, too, because I'm seeing new shit that wasn't in the game back when I played it before, dropping from enemies that weren't in the game before. I mean, sure, I'm technically spoiling myself, but on the whole, I'd rather know a thing exists and that I can actively seek it out, than to not know that and just be randomly surprised when one drops (which has happened a few times already in this playthrough). Also, more often than not, if you do find something completely at random, you'll already have much better gear by that point, so as cool as some new toy may be, you'll end up not using it since what you already had was better.

(EDIT) On the bright side, the previous choke/bottleneck point was the Wall of Flesh to unlock Hardmode, for which I had to build a long path of platforms in the underworld, and the first time I beat it, it was down to the wire and went from the edge of the map to nearly to the center of the map. Now, however, I can kill the Wall of Flesh in about literally 20-30 seconds or so with little effort. I haven't fought them recently, as there's no real need to do so, but I could probably kill the Eye of Cthulhu and the Eater of Worlds nearly instantaneously now. I know that will be the case with the mechanical bosses eventually, as well, which is something to look forward to, as I'll probably end up farming them for their soul items and hallowed bars and such to make stronger shit for fighting Plantera and the Golem and Fishron and (eventually) the Lunar things and the Moon Lord. I think there are some new bosses in the game now that weren't there before, as well. No idea where they fit into the scheme of things. (/EDIT)

(EDIT 2) Since originally writing this post in the long ago time of "yesterday," as far as The Twins go at least, I've gone from not being able to beat them at all to beating them three times in a row in a single night without dying. Still a pretty tough fight, but not near-instant death like it was at first. I built a long track of platforms up in the sky (near the right-side ocean area, where I'd built a couple houses for the Angler and the Pirate) with campfires and Heart Lanterns strategically placed on and under it. My current equipment is as follows: Frost Armor, Ruthless Spider Staff (which, with the Bewitching Table's effect and the Pygmy Necklace mentioned below, allowed me to summon three spiders), Legendary Ice Sickle (aided by the Sharpening Station), Unreal Daedalus Stormbow (I have lots of other weapons, but those didn't come into play here), Lucky Pygmy Necklace, Menacing Moon Charm (yes, I was a werewolf the whole time I was fighting them), Warding Frozen Wings, Menacing Flying Carpet (which I probably should have replaced with something more useful, as I hardly used that during the fights), and Quick Lightning Boots. Probably not the most efficient equipment load, but it got the job done. (I also had a couple glasses of Grape Juice sitting in my inventory, which would have made the fights even easier... but I forgot to use it before hand. ^^; Oh well. Didn't really need it anyway, I guess.)

And now, of course, I have 78 Hallowed Bars and 37 Souls of Sight that I can use to start upgrading my equipment even further. Still have yet to beat The Destroyer or Skeletron Prime, but I don't think they'll be too awfully difficult. Soon, I'll be wrecking all of the mechanical bosses pretty easily, then moving on to the next choke/bottleneck point, which is Plantera. I could give Duke Fishron a go, maybe, but I'm pretty sure it would just be wasted effort at this point, as he'd almost assuredly wreck my shit again. Once you have Fishron-related weapons and items, though, all the previous bosses, up through Golem, are basically a cakewalk. (/EDIT 2)

(EDIT 3) And now all three mechanical bosses have been defeated, each three times in one night without much trouble. So that means the Plantera bulbs will start growing in the underground jungle. Time to start prepping for that, I guess. Tomorrow or whenever. (/EDIT 3)
