Hell, those ridiculous Japanese "genre" names seem more honest than just willy-nilly calling everything under the sun a "roguelike" or "soulslike" or "metroidvania" or whatever.
Well, I mean, aside from the stupid shit "genres" like "the RPG where you find out what it means to be born" and "the RPG that foretells the break of dawn in your heart." At that point, I think the word "genre" itself no longer actually applies.
