Kind of weird and convenient that I just happened to start playing Terraria again, first, during Halloween, and then, again, after a month or so break, during Christmas, such that I've gotten a bunch of Halloween/Christmas related stuff (mostly cosmetic, vanity items that don't really matter, but still). Wasn't intentional, but it just worked out that way. I (re)started with a new character during Halloween on a small world, and a few days ago, I (re)started again (though with the same character with which I'd reached Hardmode) on a pre-Hardmode large world. Haven't bothered to kill the Wall of Flesh in this new world to activate Hardmode yet. At first, I considered rushing it so that I could fight a Frost Legion in order to have Santa Claus move into my village, but after I read that you can get him to move in at anytime (for a day, at least) even when it's not during the Christmas event, just by finishing the Frost Moon event, the FOMO faded away.

Anyway, it's also kind of weird that when I go into the game with a "goal" in mind (e.g. looking for specific NPCs in the world or trying to reach the conditions required for them to appear, or looking for specific enemies for farming or whatever), I've found that I feel like I have less fun than when I just decide to say "y'know what, screw all that 'goal' shit" and just randomly wander around, for pure exploration's sake. Often, I tend to happen across the thing I had been looking for previously, regardless, even if I'm not specifically seeking it out at that moment.
