Huh. Well, I guess that shows just how long it has been since the last time I played Minecraft at all. Auto-jumping wasn't even a thing then. Article says it was introduced in a 2016 update, so it makes sense that I wouldn't have encountered that, given that I stopped playing Minecraft altogether around 2013-2014 or so (i.e. around the time it was bought bysold to Micro$hit).

Jumping a bit too early or too late depending on your speed. It was literally faster for me to just jump on my own.
Luckily when they added the feature they also added it to options to turn it off. If I was forced to deal with that shit I'm sure I would have stopped playing minecraft.
*update*
Speaking of when MS bought minecraft, I remember what I was doing in minecraft at the time when I learned about it. I also remember how pissed I was about it. At this point I don't know what I think about it. I likely wouldn't have bothered buying minecraft if I didn't already have it before then I'm sure. I suspect if they finally go Too Far with trying to kill java edition, I'll just move on with my life and stop playing minecraft at that point.
When I get a new computer, hopefully this year, I'll probably start making videos of me playing the game. Whether or not I'll make them public is another question - it'll mostly just be for recording what I've done in my worlds and the like more than anything.

Date: 2023-01-23 06:24 pm (UTC)From:As for Java Edition, the only thing I know about that now is that it is utterly unplayable on my computer now. When it did run, it was basically a slideshow which tried to melt my CPU. The "Bedrock" version, by contrast, ran okay on my computer (once I eventually managed to get it successfully installed, anyway), at least for what tiny bit I bothered to mess with it. I don't know if that is a result of Micro$hit intentionally nerfing the Java version in some way in order to pimp the Bedrock version, or if it's just a consequence of the general Java bloat finally catching up with my computer, given that Minecraft is a hell of a lot bigger with even more feature creep now than it was back in 2012 or whenever. *shrug*
