A post on The Daily Cartoonist.
Grammar error in the first cartoon, because I cannot possibly be convinced that Trump actually does care at least a little about "bringing our country together." I could be convinced that it was an intentional error, to show that Trump is a moron who says stupid stuff, though. It'd be very easy to convince me of that.
"Smart people don't like Trump" certainly tracks with how Trump "loves the poorly educated" (or, rather, loves their votes, anyway). Despite what is implied by the article (or, rather, what is claimed by the article to be the belief of Trumpanzees), "smart" does not equate one-to-one with "elite" or "snobby," just like "ignorant" does not always equate one-to-one with "boorish" or "barbaric" (despite typically observed Trumpanzee behavior). If you think that all smart people are always elitist and snobby, and if you think that smart people not liking you is unequivocally a good thing, then you are part of the problem. It's just another facet of breaking your own shit or otherwise doing things against your own self-interest just because you got it into your head that doing so "owns the libs" or whatever. Libs don't give the first shit if some MAGAt smashes their Keurig or whatever, except to mock them for it. (In fact, some were actually happy about it. Bonus: that article also shows that GQPers have long been light on criticizing a pedophile if said pedophile happens to be on "their side." Flash forward to today and all the Trump/Epstein shit that they're bending over backwards to ignore, in a similar fashion.)
I'll just say again that I believe that the MAGA trucker hat is the 21st century equivalent to not just the Klan hood but also the Nazi swastika armband.
"And, yeah, Jesus continually preached against racism and hatred, but people who call themselves Christian often prefer the violent, clannish advice of the Old Testament, even though Christ directly refuted it." (emphasis and double emphasis mine)
You sure about that? (Note, that Google link there contains some rather disparate views about what Jesus may or may not have said about the Old Testament. Which is kind of the point.)
"And, yeah, a lot of Christians are hateful hypocrites, but there are a lot of very good, very decent Christians, too, and lumping them all in together is just another form of bigotry."
And I'm sure that the hateful hypocrite Christians consider the "very good, very decent Christians" to be CINOs (Christians in name only), just like how everyone else views the hateful hypocrites as CINOs. I guess the real question is which flavor of CINO outnumbers the other?
"Two things you should probably keep in mind if you prefer the Kennedy world to the Trump world:
"One is that people still wear Cleveland Browns gear and fill the stadium, despite the team having a losing record for eight of the past 10 years. Arguing that they aren’t the finest team in football misses the point: It’s about loyalty, not quality.
"The other is — and brace yourself for a surprise — insulting people doesn’t often turn them into your friends."
(Hey, at least the win/loss record of the Cleveland Browns is still probably better than Trump's record when it comes to successful businesses.)
Yes, MAGAts don't care that Trump is the worst president in the history of presidents, they only care that he's their president, i.e. the one they voted for, probably multiple times. Sunk-cost fallacy doesn't even begin to factor into it, because they still believe that their "money" was "well spent." (Or, you know, literal money, in some cases.)
While insulting people doesn't typically turn them into your friends, neither does polishing with your lips the asses of people who hate you and want you dead make them your friends, either. It just makes you a useful sap to them, until they deem you no longer useful and toss you on the pile of bodies with all the rest.
Yeah, it's very, very easy to "villainize" Charlie Kirk simply by quoting him verbatim. That's all it should take, if that's something one may be interested in doing. However, that only works if the people to whom you're quoting him aren't already of like mind with him and don't already believe that his words are gospel truth and the best things since sliced bread. If you tell an ammosexual, for example, that Charlie Kirk said that some tragic gun deaths are necessary in order to keep the Second Amendment, all you'd probably get from them is a strong, solemn "Amen."
"Similarly, yeah, anyone with a junior-high understanding of science knows RFK Jr is a dangerous crackpot, but he’s also a chilling example of how tribal loyalty can carry more weight than common sense."
And yeah, far, far, far too many people take the awful, asinine words of RFK Jr. to be gospel truth and the best things since sliced bread, too, and that's simply horrifying.
In any case, most of the comics shown on this page and pretty much all of the commentary underneath them just further beat in the point that all that matters to Trump and the Trumpanzees is loyalty. But, really, it's not even so much that. It's more just a shared interest in seeing The Other™ harmed more than they are. As long as the brown people continue to get deported and the black people continue to be held down (figuratively or literally), they're okay with having to pay a little more for eggs at the grocery store or whatever. Just so long as those libs continue to be owned, that's the important thing. If Trump is the guy who makes all that happen, then they'll fall in line, no matter how they might claim to feel about pedophiles.
Wow, this ended up being a much longer post than I thought it would be when I first started it.
