...but only after gamers destroyed her book on the Amazon and the Barnes and Noble websites.

Well, I'll be. Happy frickin' birthday to me.

So, I just got back from an attempt to go to Jack in the Box. Here's a comment I just left on Jack in the Box.com's customer feedback page, labeled "Service Issue", along with any and all contact information that they will ever need to get in touch with me about this:

I received a $15 Jack Cash gift card for Christmas. I tried to take this card to the store in Redmond. The cashier who tried to take my order, named (name withheld from LJ post), tried to swipe the card, but it would not swipe for some reason. She said that she was sorry but she couldn't use it. I explained to her that I had brought this exact same card to this exact same restaurant on a previous occasion and it had been used. It had also not swiped properly then, either, but the other cashier had been able to manually type in the number on the back of the card (number withheld from LJ post) and that transaction had completed without a problem after that. When I explained this to (name withheld from LJ post), she continued to say that she didn't know how to type in the number. I asked her to find someone else in the store who DID know how to type in the number, but she just kept refusing to serve me. Frustrated, I left without being served. I want this card to be accepted, or I want monetary restitution for the remaining value of the card.

I checked the View Card History thing on the Jack in the Box site for my card and saw that, indeed, my previous transaction had gone through, and that there was still $8.35 on the card.

Before anyone says that I should have asked to speak to a manager, I'm pretty sure that this person was a manager, at least based on how she was dressed, and even so I did in fact ask to speak to someone who knew what was going on, as I said in my complaint up there, but she didn't do anything other than keep saying "I'm sorry, I can't use this." I remained as civil as I could, given the circumstances, and I hope that the only indication that I was as royally pissed off as I am was when I said "Look, just forget it," grabbed my card from her, and left.

We'll see what comes of this, I guess. I'm glad that I don't feel as sick as I did yesterday, at which point the mere thought of eating from Jack in the Box would have made me even more nauseous, but when I finally do feel like eating there, I would at least like to actually be able to frickin' eat there, you know? This is the first time, aside from the time they simply had the doors locked an hour before closing time, that I've gotten piss poor service at this Jack in the Box.

Once again, Happy Birthday to me. *eyeroll* Oh, and that reminds me... today is Saturday, rather than Sunday, which means that I can go down the street to Herfy's and get a burger or some teriyaki or something from there, rather than diddling with Jack in the Box. The only thing is that I'll have to actually pay for it there, since I don't have $8.35 worth of gift card to use there. For what it's worth, unless and until something positive is done about this, I won't be visiting Jack in the Box again.

So, just got back from Herfy's. Apparently, they have come under new management since the last time I was there a couple of weeks ago, the most immediate repercussion of which is that they don't serve teriyaki anymore. That was fine for today since I wanted a burger anyway, but is slightly annoying overall. Still, while their teriyaki was okay, their burgers are pretty good too, so it's not the end of the world. On the other hand, I got a little paper menu with a coupon worth 10% off of the next combo meal I get there, which is nice. I just have to remember to use it, is all.

The main difference between Herfy's and Jack in the Box is that I have consistently received excellent, friendly, and personable service there, including this most recent time, as opposed to Jack in the Box. Jack in the Box is... functional, and I've never had a problem with them before now, per se, but they just don't really seem to care as much there, overall, if you know what I'm saying. Not really surprising though.

The only really sad thing about Herfy's is that the cute, bubbly blond girl who worked there last fall is no longer there, and hasn't been there since I got back from Christmas break. :(
