My sister (the one with whom I live) got a COVID test (PCR, not rapid) on Friday, and the results came back today: "detected." As such, this means that it's around 99.999% certain that I also have COVID, since I've been sick for almost as long as she has been. I won't say it has been "mild," because it has sucked some serious asshole, so far, but it hasn't been completely debilitating either. As such, I guess compared to how bad it could be, it actually is pretty "mild," so far. I.e., I feel at least okay enough, for instance, to sit here at the computer, rather than, say, just lay in bed all day. Same is the case for my sister, who has been up and about pretty much the whole time, since telling me she was feeling sick last week. Granted, neither of us feel like running a marathon or anything right now, but then, it's not like I'd be doing that anyway, even if I was at full 100% health. ¬_¬ Neither of us feel even remotely bad enough to have a need to go to the hospital or anything like that, which is nice, and I hope that remains the case.

Symptoms for me have been moderate headache, sore/scratchy throat, lots of coughing, increasingly stopped up nose (today is about as bad as yesterday, which was worse than any previous day since it all started last week), and just a general, full-body malaise, which sucks shit. I can still taste food or whatever, at least so far, though, so there is that. For the most part, it has "just" felt like a relatively bad case of flu. Honestly, from what I recall of it back then, this here doesn't feel too different from when I was sick back in December, 2020. (I'll never know for sure if that was original recipe COVID.) That stuck around around two weeks, at least. Hope this one passes more quickly. It's been around four or five days for me, at this point.

My sister and I both had the vaccine (Pfizer version), but neither of us had a booster yet. For me, I won't be eligible for the six-month booster until February 23, since I got my second dose of the original vaccine on August 23, 2021. I'll be getting it as soon as possible, though.

"They had an opportunity to get off on the right foot"

Well, I wasn't even aware until now that Microsoft is buying Activision Blizzard, in the first place. (Which... I guess makes sense, given that it was apparently only just announced?) That said, unlike in most other cases, it's not as if Activision Blizzard could somehow get much worse than they already are, given that they were already one of the biggest culprits of the abysmal bullshit that's been putrefying the modern video game industry over the past few decades or so. Being bought by Microsoft is mostly a lateral move, in that sense, given that Microsoft is another of the biggest culprits of said abysmal bullshit. In any case, Microsoft keeping Bobby Kotick on board even temporarily rather than immediately kicking him to the curb like he deserves to be is pretty on-brand.

I just have to ask, though, at what point do antitrust laws come into play here? I mean, who's even left, at this point, as far as giant American mega-corporations in the modern video game industry? There's Microsoft... (Not that Microsoft is solely a "video game company" but still.) There's EA... Maybe Valve... Maybe (*ugh*shiver*puke*) Epic... Besides those, are there any other gigantic American video game companies? I can't think of any others, off hand, though I'm sure I'm missing something. Ubisoft and Square Enix aren't American companies, so they don't really count. Same with Nintendo, Sony, etc., even if they have American branches.
