When I see people use "irregardless" when they obviously mean "regardless," it is the linguistic equivalent of fingernails on chalkboard. It's in the same vein as the whole "could care less" thing, in that you're pretty much saying the exact opposite of what you intended to say. Well, it's actually worse than that, because "irregardless" isn't really a word at all, in the first place.
