Mojang v. Bethesda, or: I Hate it When Mommy and Daddy Fight (<pedant>Warning: errant use of "begs the question" contained therein.</pedant>)
The above almost makes it seem like Bethesda has a legitimate point, due to the scattershot trademark concerns.
Notch Offered to Give Up "Scrolls" Trademark, Bethesda Sued Anyway
Oops, there went that point.
I can see why they could be concerned, given the whole retarded thing with Tim Langdell* that was brought up in the first article. If Mojang were to go down that road, any and all support I have for them will instantly evaporate. However, at this point in time, there's nothing to indicate that would be the case. The rationale given in the first article for why Bethesda was suing them anyway: just in case. But, again, given that Notch apparently offered to give up the trademark and yet Bethesda is suing them anyway, I still hope this ends in Mojang's favor. Unless there's just some angle on this that I'm simply not seeing, I still think of Bethesda as the "bad guy" in this situation.
(In any case, however, I have absolutely zero intention of boycotting Skyrim over this, or anything stupid like that, as some are mentioning in the comments. And Minecraft is a hipster fad now? What. See, this is why I usually avoid reading the asinine comments sections under articles like these.)
* - Seriously, this douchebag is the direct cause of one of the very few times that I have actually fully supported EA, of all companies, on an issue such as this.
